I tested this on a brand new website with no other plugins, the idea was to test default block editor vs this video plugin.

Did you clicked on "optimzed youtube video" option? You have to in order to improve video loading speed otherwise it will not.

Wich theme you are using?

One thing that worked on one of my websites was turning off the featured image on the posts... got the improvement I needed to comply with core vitals.

Yes I did this.

There is something about JavaScript in settings which I also enabled as an attempt bur the result is the same.

Theme is GP.

Yes I know about featured images, but it is not so great to remove them.

Since people still see them in the blog roll, and social shares I find that not having one on the actual post is benefitial!

People land on what they want to read!

Plus I have lots of other images down below but they are lazy loading as people read the introduction ;)

Not sure that I understand. If you do not add a featured image, it will not appear in blog roll. This is so with GP. I think the same is with all WP themes which WP itself offers for users, those Twenty something.

In Studio Press Metro Pro which I use in several sites, a small blog roll image must be created separately and then a featured image is not needed. So which theme do you use?

But the main issues are YT videos, there is no way to solve this.

I add the featured image the same way... I just choose not to show it! You can set this at generatepress options.

So image still aperas on the blog roll and social shares, but when someone enters the blog post it will not display the image even though its there.

But if you are sure the problem are with the videos it wont help!

Interesting idea. I just tested it in posts in a site which is exact copy of one real site and it turns out that almost all parameters are green, this with 3 and 4 videos in posts. LCP definitely is green.

Tried with and without this Presto thing. It seems it has no effect at all.

So it may be that after all this is about featured images only. Why the heck do we need it at all?

I have already had discussion with GP support about featured images, but they are too arrogant to accept anything. They say this is bad hosting platform, which may be partly so.

Anyway, this is a topic for your new training, find out a tool to keep featured images and have a green LCP.

In any case, I shall now test on real sites and most likely remove those featured images in actual posts.

we can have a green LCP with featured images, just need to make them small enough!

I don't use them becasue:

(NOTE this is my personal opinion)

- I find that they kind of push the content down wasting people most valuable asset, time.

- While outside the post it serves a purpose, Boost CTR, inside the post have close to no value

- Makes our posts load faster

Actually this is not so from my bad experience, I did tests not so long ago, no matter how small featured image is, it always resulted in red LCP. This is why I got in touch with GP support. They did not accept this as a fact.

But ...

Here is one more test on my test site.

1. Featured images are disabled in individual posts, but they exist as featured images and they appear in blog roll etc. So this is your setup.

2. I added the same featured image manually on the top of the post. And it is huge 1000 px. With it, the tests are still green.

So this is something related to how the theme adds featured image on the top of a post. Bad coding within GP. Not the first time to realize this. Last time it was WA support to claim the same related to some other issue.

As for the rest, you are right. Though they have a visual value, but it seems the price is too high for it. I think I shall disable them.

I've been using blocksy premium now for my new sites... so far no issues! I'm pleased!

But I do not use featured images as well .P

When you present them such arguments they tend to become blind and deaf.

Here is my conversation with them, it is pointless. As you see, the second guy just switch to a secondary point instead of real issue. Have a look.

Anyhow, I have now disabled featured images in one site and shall see what Google says after 28 days. Currently ALL URLs 'need improvement; because of LCP ie. featured images.

It's easy to blame others ...

I really hate when support (any kind of product support) does that!

I would prefer them to say the actual words %$#& &%$...

You would want to get used to the Block editor, however support has been extended for a bi longer. How to Convert Your Post From Classic Editor to Block Editor

Did it work for you? I tested with classic editor and there was no improvement.

You can and should use relevant youtube videos on your site content is good for both time on-site and SEO.

The thing is that the default embed code is not optimized and this little (FREE) plugin does the trick of optimizing it for us ;)
