4) Presence on Social Media Alone
Social Media is the number one go-to for must influencer, but it’s a fact that genuine influencers make themselves available for engagement. As such, as their fan base increases they have engagement on other platforms, their fans seek to ask questions, advice, and even inspiration.
If you meet with an influencer on a platform, for example Instagram, on searching for him or her on other platforms like Twitter or LinkedIn and he or she is nowhere to be found. I think it is a call for caution.
This trend negates the behavioral pattern of thought leaders and experts.
5) Obvious Poor Quality Engagement
Evaluating the quality of engagement of an influencer you choose to follow will not be a bad idea. Simple take a quick look at the comments to their post and see what their followers are saying. For fake influencers, you will see a lot of comments, but the majority of them will come emojis or comments that are not related to the post. Another set of comments you can see that should trigger a word of caution are phrases like “amazing shot”, “nice “. It all calls for caution.
