What Makes a Website an Authority?
As you may or may not know, there are "authority" websites in just about every niche market online.
SearchEngineJournal says an authority website is this.....
" An authority website is a site that is trusted. It’s trusted by its users, trusted by industry experts, trusted by other websites and trusted by search engines."
It's really a vague kind of term, but I'm sure you get the idea. If you can get other websites (and social media) to show your website as a resource and create a "buzz", you're well on your way to becoming a leading authority in your niche.
Back in January, I created training on the free Moz Tool bar:

I use this all the time to check the "authority" as defined by Moz, one of the best SEO authorities around - and determine how well a website is doing. I check this out for guest posts, other research AND to check MY OWN websites.
As you will see, if you study the Moz toolbar at all, there is PA - Page Authority and DA - Domain Authority. And, they differ and I urge you to make an attempt to understand how. That's not the basis of this training...., but to give you an example. Here's the Domain Authority of one of my websites:
A Domain Authority of 35 isn't too shabby! I could actually charge people to guest post on this website now and likely will do so shortly. This particular website went from a DA1 to DA35 in less than a year with some real solid content, SEO and promotion.
Why Create an Authority Website?
Well, there are several reasons - the first one that likely popped into your mind - TRAFFIC! Duh!
Also, there is Branding - branding yourself or your company can be huge. This enables folks to recognize YOU as an expert in the field. Not only will it help your present website, but down the road, it could assist when you promote ANYTHING!!!!
Think about that for a bit!
I've still quite a journey ahead of me to reach this, but I can feel the spirit of these great moves reaching out to me.....
It'll catch me, I know.....
What high-octane fuel to keep giong on!!!:-))))))
