Angela, that is one of the most helpful tutorials ever.. Anyone building websites needs to know how to create banners. I've been trying to figure out how to do it for a long time. You are a god-send. Thank you. I'm definitely following you! Thanks again.

Angela, I'd like to save the linked banner on my computer to use on other non-wordpress websites or Facebook. I can't seem to get that to work. Can you tell me how to do that? Thanks!
Reply
AngelaHall Premium
I don't think you can save it directly to your computer like a regular image.
But what you could do is save it in a word doc or google doc and then add the link to the image in the doc.
or just paste the link under the doc.
However that seems like a lot of extra work.
I'm an organizer so if it were me - I would probably create a new folder in my google drive (cloud storage is the BEST!) and give it a name for the new site.
then save the image in that folder and create a google sheet in the same folder and place the link in one cell - the image file name in another cell then a short description in another so if I go back to look at it later I'll actually know what it's for.
Knowing me, I'd forget after a few days lol

Thank you for the tutorial. Would you go through the same process to create a banner at the top of your website, or is it better to just select another WP theme that has a place holder?

I'm new to WP and I see it has a lot of power.
Reply
AngelaHall Premium
You would go through the same process, however every theme is different has usually indicates in your dashboard the recommended size.

Hi Angela, it's me again. I just tried following your instruction and for some reason when I tried to upload the photos to wordpress media I received the message " Sorry this file type is not permitted for security reasons." Any reason why?
Thanks for your help!

open the folder on your pc.
at the bottom of the folder you will see the file type
if it's not JPEG or PNG, that would be the problem.
When you save your image in Pixlr, be sure you select JPEG from the dropdpwn on the save save screen

Excellent tutorial Angela! I haven't used pixlr yet, but this looks quite a bit easier to use than PicsArt, which is the one I've been using for adding text to images. I also like the advice to add the image size in the file name so it's easier to find the right one later. I'll have to give this a try.

Thanks so much for sharing!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry
