Let's Check The SiteRubix Checklist

There are some things you need to check before you go ahead and transfer your SiteRubix website to your Own Domain.

Here is the checklist:

  1. Make sure that your Comments Requests have finished - if not, you won't see the comments on your own Domain
  2. Make sure you've backed up your SiteRubix Site in case you need files, and also export from within WP
  3. Make sure that the name you've chosen for your new Domain refers to the Niche Market of your SiteRubix website
  4. Make sure you have copied files from your SiteRubix website via FTP, one such utility is Filezilla. Here is a link on how to use Filezilla.
  5. Make sure the previous files you had on your own Domain have been transferred or backed up.If your domain is new, then this is not necessary as the move process overwrites the existent files from the previous user of the domain.

Check Once Transferred to Own Domain

Make sure your Privacy Policy page reference to your URL is changed once you've transferred your SiteRubix to your Own Domain.

Hey
I have changed my bestmatcha.siterubix.com site to my own domain bestmatcha.org

Now I wanted to update the website-name on the privacy policy site manually. Unfortunately I can't change 2 last inscriptions from my previous siterubix site to "bestmacha.org" (see picture below)

Does anyone know, how I could do this... ?
I am glad about any answer or help.

see you :)

I just noticed, if I update my site it changes automatically :D

The siterubix "Move" process puts some code into your old siterubix site. That code causes all accesses of the old site (including yours) to be redirected to the new one.

Because of this redirection, you can no longer edit your old site. Any edits will automatically be applied to the new one. Since nobody will ever see your old site anyway, there's no point trying to edit it.

Regarding your no 4 checklist, Site Rubix doesn’t have FTP so, how can we do that via FTP?

I'm not clear on when I can delete my x.siterubix.com site after I have completed the transfer to a domain i purchased here at WA?
Reply
Iliass Premium
It's safe if you just leave it, it will work as a redirect to your new website.

thank you LLiass, but if I have fix the new site as stand alone, I would like to delete the old site.rubix one sometime. William :)

i purchased a domain few days ago and I didn't have the time to be in front of computer because I was busy with work. I just got a notification from domain notice to send them my register today or it will expire and cancel the domain name I have initially chosen. where should I go? which link to click? please help!

Did you get this notice from the registrar where you bought the registration? If so, you should go directly to your account there and determine if you owe any money for the registration.

DO NOT click any link in an email you have received on this. When you register a domain, you pay for it at the same time. That's how you complete the purchase. This sounds like it might be a scam for "domain name search registration" or some such garbage.

What is your domain's URL?

Hey Bob, where I was told it was a scam...I registered or purchased my domain through WA and the email I received asking me to click something was from domain.com

Anything related to your domain registration should only be coming from WA. Domain.com is a competing domain name registrar.

Hi there, newbie question: when you say "transfer your SiteRubix website to your Own Domain", you're referring to domain.siterubix.com being transferred to domain.com, right?

Because what I understand so far is that if we choose to host our sites at WA, it's on siterubix anyway. So I got a little confused with what you're referring to.

Yes to your first question.

This was compiled before WA offered the service of purchasing Domains from them, so maybe that's where the confusion came in.

Before Jan 2016, we would have to buy a Domain from another Registrar and transfer the Siterubix.com site the New Domain, but now it's all done here through WA with a click of a button.

(It was also a click of a button before, but the process may have taken a bit longer to the outside domain registrar! :-))

Let me know if it's still not clear!

Excellent, thanks for the reply! I think my misunderstanding stemmed from forgetting there is a different between a domain and webhost :)

By 'Back Up' your siterubix site, do you mean to actually download the files to a different drive or ftp them off the server somehow?
I am getting read to move what I have thus far (which is not much) to my domain. So I don't want to lose the little content I have thus far.

Thanks Jovo!
As for 'Export', is that supposed to be to an external device? Or is it stored somewhere inside WA?

Hi Edu, thanks for this. A question though (you didn't think that was all I would write did you? :)) - point number 1, is this in reference to comment requests from other members within the WA platform?
Reply
TopAchiever Premium
It's the comments you requests from other members through the comments section in WA - yes. :-)

This is really good info--something a lot of us wouldn't be thinking about. Not leaving anytime soon, but "nevertheless hello".

Thanks for your comment Dick! No but I've often seen many people who've joined and find themselves in a financial jam and would like to continue, but cannot, they need to know that they CAN transfer their site to other hosting to keep it in tact for when they find themselves in a better situation financially to return to WA.

Hi Edu....Great tutorial!!

If I may, another reason to have your own domain instead of the SitRubix is because your own domain is going to be easier for you and your followers to remember than that of a siterubix.com domain.

Also, I am not sure if you knew, but your link on your "Edu's Training Tutorials" and your "Learn Here" link are pointing to our own training conversion page and not to your training. You want to change those links to go to "https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/topachiever/training"

Great idea you have given me though! :)

However I do not feel ready yet to start Building on my own domein (due to financial reasons). So for the moment I will stick with siterubix.com

As a Premium member Yohan, you can host your own site on WA for no extra charge - except the $10 US or so to register the domain name ( right now http://Namecheap.com is selling .com domains for $8.88 and .xyz domains for just $1). In fact, you can host many domains here and you membership fees will not go any higher.
