Finally after all that research you get to start writing your post.
Write a Captivating Headline
The first thing I do is write a captivating headline for my post. This is not my SEO headline so it doesn't even have to have my keyword in it! It can and I like to put my keyword in but sometimes it looks repetitive with the keyword in the title, the url, the first paragraph and then a heading.
So very often I write something completely different
Add Main Keyword to URL
You URL will automatically become whatever your title is. I always change my title to my exact main keyword. I then save it as a draft. (Sometimes it will change back to the heading...??)
Write Introduction with Main Keyword
Write your introduction to the post and include your main keyword.
Add Main Keyword and Secondary Keywords to Headings
I then plot out my actual post by writing my headings. These are the different points I want to write about.
Onto the next step... writing!
I don't want my boring title that nobody will click on showing up in the searches.
I have really been struggling with this because all of my keywords are quite long (3-6 words), often questions. There is no way to write a catchy title that also has the keywords without it becoming a run on sentence.
Another thing, someone (can't remember who) said to only focus on one keyword per article. Don't get fixated on adding other keywords. But I think you are suggesting we should look at other keywords.
I am starting to think (since I am not really making much money) that I am going to just try writing without focusing on keywords. So many of my competitors articles that rank on the first page don't seem to even focus on keywords. They appear here and there, but it seems very natural and not planned out. Yet they are still on the first page.
What to do, what to do???
All the very best,
Pete.
