The question

First, the question: Why did you land on this training? I assume it’s because you want to learn more about headlines that drive traffic your way. Perhaps it’s because you read the title? Did you find it intriguing, engaging, inviting?

Let’s suppose it’s the title.

I guess you receive WA related emails every day. The number of emails grows as you widen your network of contacts. Sooner or later, you realize you must prioritize. You must be very selective in choosing the type of content you want to consume from your inbox. Otherwise, you end up wasting your precious time reading stuff you don’t need in most cases.

The task

Now, here’s the task. Please read through these 20 titles and pick the titles you would consider exploring further (without knowing who the authors are):

  1. Siteosis: Get Help Now!
  2. Why all of a sudden are people not clicking through, need feedback please
  3. 5 tips to making money by blogging
  4. How to find scams to review
  5. Learn to EXPAND
  6. Top 10 Tips for High Converting Emails
  7. To Much Fun !
  8. So Little Time
  9. Fetch As Google Answers
  10. Feedback and Comment Exchange
  11. Need help with Sitemap
  12. Trying Times
  13. 5 Things To Get Explosive Results
  14. Ubuntu
  15. The past six month has been a challenge in my life
  16. Good reason to start a second site
  17. Awesome Cintact Form!
  18. Ever Want to Join the Circus?
  19. The Paradoxical Commandments
  20. Be bold.

Would you agree these 20 titles generate different emotional responses? Some of them communicate the sense of urgency (very good), others only state the current situation or ask for help (hmm, not so good – it should be the other way round; you should be offering help).

I’m not going to judge which headlines are effective so it doesn’t matter which titles you’ve chosen (no offense to anyone at WA). The purpose of this short exercise is just to highlight the power of well-written headlines for your post.
