8. Clear language
Make your text appealing, banners are not suppose to be subtle.
You can use a quote
9. Keep it simple
Use no more than 4 text lines
Use a good readable font
Only use Italic for the disclaimer or copyright
10. Consider animation
When you choose for an animated ad, do not choose for an infinite loop.
Let it stop after 3 times. Or be sure it doesn't interfere with the reading. People can get very distracted from your content when the banner keeps blinking.
