Disclaimer: This is an advanced marketing guide to Twitter. If you are just starting out, or don't have all the in n out's of Twitter just yet, I would highly recommend going over some basic How Too's and training either offered here or elsewhere.

Below is a fantastic in-depth training to Twitter Basics put together by Robert (user: boomergp08) I would take full advantage of his training first, then come back to this guide after you feel more comfortable in the Twitterverse.

While Twitter may not be as big as Facebook in terms of traffic, it has several advantages over Facebook. Not only is it easier to gain followers on Twitter, but you can engage with people before they become your friend on a personal profile or your fan on a business page.

The following is a guide to help you setup Twitter to maximize results and implement a successful Twitter Marketing Strategy.

We’ve all read those same old Twitter marketing techniques: use hashtags, speak with your followers, listen more than you talk, and a host of others that are all too obvious after using the service for more than a few days.

I’m going to skip past those and give you advanced Twitter marketing techniques that will really help your Twitter account take off. Whether you’re trying to get the word out about a new piece of software or you just want people to know about your latest online sale, these are the Twitter strategies you’ll want to employ.

Be sure to go through Robert's Part I and Part II of the Twitter basics... Then go through mine for the advanced stuff =) Take your time and don't get too overwhelmed -- Twitter can give you a headache just as fast as the other Social Media Platforms.

Don't be hesitant to ask Robert or myself any questions on either training module. Twitter is easily set-up, but takes awhile to master.

Wow John! This is a long one. Too late (or early, however you look at it). I'll have to come back and read it.
I have Twitter, but I've only been on it a couple of times recently. I used to use TweetDeck. It was soo much easier to use for Twitter.

Yea, it's a pretty long guide I must admit. But it's only the tip of the iceberg as far as information goes. So much more info out there. Hope ya enjoy the read when ya get the chance. Be sure to go through Robert's first and get the basics done, then come back to mine to finish.
