1) Decide on your Content
Knowing the kind of content you want to offer is very key. I don’t mean you must write all your content before starting your blog. But you must be able to come up with an idea of the type of content you intend focusing on.
Coming up with this idea will give you a picture of your requirement. Two things are important when it comes to deciding on the type of content you intend to develop.
- Type of Audience
- Competitors in your Niche
Types of Audience: Good you understand that your website is not for you. It is targeted at your visitors, so the focus is on their needs. So you must create personas for your visitors or users, this will help you see from their perspective and determine the kind of content
Conduct Competitors research: I know by now you will be asking, how will you know what to write. You can generate ideas for content creation by taking a look at your competitor's website. So doing, you will know the kind of content they write. Also, you will be able to identify their traffic sources.
What you are looking for is what your visitors will see. Remember its not about the flashy design but the content that brings traffic.
