Hi - I have run competitions on Facebook to promote my boyfriend's band - CD giveaways etc. As regards Facebook, you are not permitted to ask for a like or share as a condition to enter the draw.
In general, you need to have a list of terms and conditions, for example, is it worldwide? Or country restricted? (Bear in mind postage costs). Only one entry per household? Will it be a quiz? Try not to ask for a voting-style competition.
How are you going to pick a winner? It has to be seen to be fair. One way is to use a numbering system for each entry and then use an online Random Number Generator, preferably with a video of the draw.
Its not as easy as you might think. Be aware it could be shared to many of the competition websites who are very serious, so if you put a foot wrong, you could be innundated with complaints.
Thanks for the great reply. My website is spa related and the prizes would be treatments such as a massage etc.
I guess it would be country restricted as to where the salon or spa was situated, unless a high ticket offer of a retreat in a hotel spa and stay. Then prize would be offered without flights .
Voting style not good, why?
There was another lady on here who said she used voting by SMS. I think she made money that way.
I was not aware that other competition sites would share it.
As for complaints, would a term and conditions on my website, carefully thought through cover that? With a complaints procedure in the small print?
Hi - as regards a voting style competition - for example, you ask people to submit a photo, and the one with the most likes ,wins - you have no control over somebody creating multiple email accounts and voting for themselves.
A full terms and conditions is a good idea. Happy to read through it for you, if you want.
