How to score with a domain name on search engines PART #1.

1) Get a DOT COM .com extention domain name (You can buy a domain name at a domain registrar ex: http://www.namecheap.com)
It will cost you around 10$. You have to pay this fee every year to remain the owner of the domain name.
At worst, get a DOT NET .net extention. All the other extentions are almost worthless (.org/.mobi/.ca/ etc..)
Proof ? Do a search for something at Google and look at the results. You will see that 90% of the time, it's a DOT COM domain name in the results.

2) Whois protect it. This means that for a small additionnal fee, your information is not visible to all (who's the owner, who paid for the domain etc...)

3) Try to host the domain name in europe. Means that you should get a hosting account european based (my test shows that you get better results in search engines as the IPS are less saturated)
The chepest deal is "Shared hosting plans" You can start with this one but remember to get your own IP. Usually, hundreds of sites are sharing the same IP under a "Shared hosting plans"Which ain't good at all.
Ask your host to have at least one IP with you account. This only cost 1$/month or so and it's worth every pennies ! If they can't offer this, move to another host.
NOTE: An IP is like an address. Like a building address if you prefer, and in it, lots of offices (domain names)
So one IP can hold multiple domains. The down side of this is, all the domains under this IP, could be associated to you (even if it's not true !) and you could get penalized for this.
It's no mandatory but it helps a lot !!!!
With this said, i don't do one IP, for one domain. I do around 7 or 8 domains per IPs and i'm doing fine !
Just remember not to put too much domains under one ip and to get at least one IP with your hosting account.

4) Get the shortest possible/available domain name, according to your project/niche.
EX: watchmegoasicatchawolfinunitedstatesofamerica.com ain't good hehehehe.
Tools for this: Use the google keyword tool adwords.google.com/KeywordTool to find keywords. Save/Copy the suggested keywords you will get from your query.
Then go to https://www.namecheap.com/domains/domain-name-search/bulk-domain-search.aspx https://www.namecheap.com/domains/domain-name-search/bulk-domain-search.aspx and paste the keywords in there.
It will then search for possible domain names (no need to remove the spaces between the keywords and/or add DOT COM .com or DOT NET .net extantions, it will do the job for you)
If you're lucky, some will be available. If not, wash, rinse, repeat, until you find something good.
This is the hard part i must say but there's some good domains still available, if you dig enough. Try micro niches by the way. Always look at the monthly search report that shows up with the searched keywords.
Basicaly, it shows you how many people searched for this keyword on Google for this month. So in way, it tells you if the possible domain/keyword could be good/hot.
Now is it available ? That's another story...

Hope you learned a thing or two here and as you can see, english is not my native language.
Stay tuned for part #2

Thanks
