I'm going to start a podcast and there are a lot of hosting sites out there where I can host one. But, can I use WA to host my podcast.
Is there a plug in or something else
Hi Tony,
A podcast is going to be something that requires a specialized server. Youtube or Wistia would be great options for that.
You can most definitely embed the podcast on your website hosted here at WA, but you do not want to serve that file type from your website hosting, it's not meant for that and it won't perform as well as it would on a streaming service.
You can also benefit from the exposure on Youtube if you were to go that route, then just embed on your Website.
Uploading a podcast to your WA hosting server via your WordPress Media area is not something you want to do. Use Youtube. Alternatively Wistia.com is great.

Thanks Carson, appreciate the response. I think I’ll use podbean as a hosting site for my podcast as it has the best free plan that I have seen so far.
I will be doing YouTube videos soon but wanted to keep them as separate entities although I will probably integrate them at some point!
Sounds good - and you definitely want a specialized streaming service for podcasts. Let us know what you choose and maybe post about your experience with it!
In my 4 years here, never saw anyone use WA website hosting for podcasters. I know Buzzsprout is one place that does it. Other people might answer this question. I am curious to know myself.
Tony, yes, that is understandable. Sounds like Carson gave you the answer you need. I did see a lot of positive reviews about Buzzsprout. I don't know how YouTube or Wistia works but Carson knows his stuff.
