Sitecomments platform failure!

What's on my mind?

The failure that is the new and "improved" sitecomments platform is what's on my mind!

I've been here at WA for nearly 18 months now, not that you would know. I'm not really one for writing blogs on this platform as finding the time to write enough posts for my own website is a hard enough without burning that time writing on here aswel.

This will be my 3rd blog post in 18 months!

Anyways, to cut the crap. For long enough I'd used the old platform to get some comments on my posts. Did I use the "pay it forward" route intended by WA of leaving 2 comments to recieve 1? I certainly did not.

Who the hell wants to do twice the effort to only recieve half back? Instead, I used to click on the notifications which led me to the comments screen where I could just trade comments with the rest of you 1 for 1. In my eyes, the way it should be...

Gaining post comments is the chore I guess many of you fellow WA'ers can relate to.

Yeah, fair enough its an integral part to gaining good rankings from google and the other 2 search engines no one really cares about but still its the bain of my blogging life.

To cut the crap again.

Here I am, sunday night, just checking my google search console making sure everything is ok and what do you know, one of the posts I wrote 5 weeks ago is getting some organic traffic! Happy days!!

The post is a Berghaus backpack review, the traffic from the UK. As is happens I have affiliate links in this post. Affiliate links to Amazon UK. All that says to me is potential revenue.

On closer inspection the average click through postion to the post is position 5.2.

After seeing a case study a few days previous that illistrated how quickly CTR drops off the lower down page 1 you are, I understandably want maximise the serp position for that particular post.

How do I do this?? That's the question I asked myself.

Well, my website only has a little authority and that takes a good while to build, so how else??

Oh there's no comments on this post. Get 15-20 comments on it over the next few weeks should leave it in good stead for some top 3 action for a while.

That's what I'll do. I'll get comments!!

Straight over to the sitecomments platform.

Fair enough, I skipped the first post (I know nothing about babies). Left a good quality comment on the second offering. Clicked the "request comment" button. Oh yeah I have to "pay it forward".

1 comment for the price of 2 it is.

FFS back to the giving comments it is. Only to be met with this screenshot:

At first I thought it was because I had my interest setting to strict (hard to give a good comment on something you know nothing about).

So I went back and ticked every category there is and still the same thing happened!

I then started to scroll down the page and saw that if I want comments I can purchase "credits". On top of the $49 I already pay each month, now I have to buy comments aswel!?!?

Not being funny but, well, there's plenty of facebook groups that are happy to exchange comments 1 FOR 1!!!

Ever heard the old saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"?

Before the "new" site comments platform, it was no fuss, it was no drama, it was easy.

Now, well it just doesn't work.

Interesting, Tony!
I've gone to WP, for WA blogs, as it was suggested it was easier!!
However, my comments, are way, less, while producing so much more, content!
Perhaps, this is the difference??
Food for thought. Will look to see others ideas.

Hi Tony...from what I understand, I don't think Kyle & Carson have finished all that they plan to do with Site Comments. I was able to earn credits for comments and request comments this past week, but there was one time when I had to wait for a site that needed comments before I could continue finish what I was doing. With limited time to be on here, I had to handle other work matters then return back to WA, but I did earn the credits needed to receive the comments I wanted.

I'm sure Kyle & Carson are up to something good for us! :)
Have a great day!
Colleen

Comments for previewing another's site, as in earn Ambassador, points?
I don't even get a reply from the site owner!! What's up with that! Site Content
...Site owner?? Hope, it's not the latter. I won't waste, my time, for the thrill, with no, "Thank, you!", for your time!

Colleen, I'm looking forward to the tweaks!

Sorry to hear that you've had that experience with a website owner, Barb. Kyle asks us to respond to comments left as soon as possible within the next 24 hours after a comment is left. I've always heard back from a website owner when I've commented on a post. Like you, I'm looking forward to the tweaks Kyle & Carson have coming!! :)

All the best to you!!
Colleen

After writing this blog post I decided to give it another go. I got to comment on one website before it ran out again....
