Beware of Amazon's Unprofessional Moves
Just how unprofessional is Amazon when it comes to the book market?
Very.
Only this morning did I wake up on the day of my Christmas promotion only to find Amazon, without as much as alerting me, price the first book in my series from 'Free' to 99 cens. Spontaneous. Abrupt. And without even sending me a notice via email.
This is the way Amazon acts and it's one reason why for any reader magnet you may write (be it fiction, non-fiction, how-to, a funnel to add subscribers to a mailing list) is to always ensure an alternate version of the work is available through your own website and through smaller but more honest outlets like Nook, Kobo, and even iBooks.
After forking out money and gaining excitement for my promotion I had to go through the act of contacting each promo service and asking if we could push the promotion back following Amazon's dirty move - promotions that are set days or even weeks in advance.
Again, always find ways to drive traffic to your sites and blogs while using a store like GumRoad in order to allow potential customers to purchase or download work directly through your site.
Or, if need be you can use sites like Prolific Works or even StoryOrigin App and Book Funnel to place your work for free and discover new subscribers to your growing mailing list or if you happen to be a fiction author, introduce readers to your work.

That's not fun, and certainly not a very ethical move on Amazon's part. Thanks for the warning.
Todd,
I've got a book series on Amazon too--Thanks for the heads-up--bookmarking this post!

Sadly, I'm not surprised in the least. Amazon does what Amazon wants to do. Anyone else doesn't matter and can be run over, as far as they are concerned. They treat their affiliates poorly as well and couldn't care less.
