How many is too many?
Obviously, we are all different. Some learn faster than others. Some are more creative than others. Some are seasoned pros, Some, like me, are completely new to online business. We all progress at our own pace. As a "newbie", I wanted to share an negative experience I've had at Wealthy Affiliates.
No, this is NOT a negative review for WA! It's more a caution for us "newbies".
WA has sooo much information to share. At first, we're all GUNG HO, wanting to create a multitude of web sites and generate that income. My advice? SLOW DOWN!
I became a Premium member on day 5 of my Starter Course. I immediately bought 3 domain names and set to work trying to build them all at once. Bad move!
I finally realized that, by trying to build 3 different niches at once, I wasn't doing credit to ANY of them. Okay, so maybe I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but, my advice is to build 1 site, write solid content re your niche, continue to build it out with new pages and posts, research keywords for each page and post, and THEN try website number 2. Remember, this is not a "get rich quick" scheme. It is, however, a great way to make legitimate money over time.
I've been with WA for a little over a month now. Domain name one is starting to look good to me. Domain name two is actually just a play on domain name one. They both deal with the same subject but target different audiences. Domain name three is still in limbo and will remain there until 1 & 2 start generating interest and ranking on Google.
I've finally realized I'm going to be in this business for the long haul. I've got the time (and now the patience) to do it right. Keep up with the training, take the actions recommended and success WILL come.

Hi Terry! It's so true, you should concentrate on learning the ropes first before you build another site, or third. I started my third yesterday having #2 in a pretty good shape now, but I will keep it at bay for now. Just working on it occasionally, not monetizing it or anything. Probably never will as it is a joint venture with my son, and he doesn't want to "make money on squirrels", lol. We are and should be here for the long haul, so in time they Will come - readers, customers, clicks, likes, shares - profits :)

Thanks for your comments. Tell your son it's okay to make money on squirrels. That gives you more money to buy food for them!
For now, I am working on one niche, and although I have little hope, I'm getting some traffic! That is an improvement in itself!
One at a time is the way to go. And if you're getting ANY traffic, that's terrific! I'd say you're well beyond "little hope". Just keep up the great work.
Hey Terry, great post. I'm in the same boat as you, I have a few different websites I want to build. But I'm holding off until my first one hits it big.
Thanks Akky. I'm hoping this post will help other newbies to get off to a good start. I wasted a lot of time before realizing I was going about it in the wrong way. Here's wishing you much success!
I usually recommend that people wait at least 6 months to start a second site. The reason is, you will make mistakes that need to be corrected. It's much easier to fix 1 site than 3!
Plus, once you learn what to do and what NOT to do, you will get off to a much better start on your future site's.
Great info. It will probably be 6 months, or more, before I start my third. Again, my first two are basically the same. Not copied but geared to different audiences.
Thanks for the input!

I so agree with that. About one site at a time. I started off in the getting started and then stopped. I was thinking is this is for me, My passion or whatever niche I end up deciding. I was Not sure what I wanted to do for my niche, after all it has to be something I am interested in and want to write about. I jumped right into Boot Camp because I thought the best place for me to start out was Promoting the People who have Finally a program complete enough for the beginner. I plan to take your advise and stay right with this 1 site until it becomes easy. After you learn what your doing then you can actually do the task that need to be done.
