Common Sense

Have you ever noticed that "common sense" is not all that common at times? Early in my life while I was growing up on the family farm, I was taught the importance of finding a solution when a problem arose.

My problem was (and still is at times) I wanted to find solutions fast! And I wanted to implement those solutions just as speedily, so that I could move on to new things. It didn't take long to realize that those speedy "solutions" would often cause more problems...& cause delays in arriving at the point where a viable solution was implemented.

My dad and grandpa, who farmed together, and with whom I was working regularly, both had "pearls of wisdom" that they shared during these times. And they shared them over and over until they became a part of my belief system.

At first these sayings were annoying...until I realized how much truth could be found in them. As it turns out, many "truisms" are actually....true, such as, "Haste makes for waste", "The little foxes spoil the vines", "Any job worth doing is worth doing well". And the list goes on...

One thing is certain. If we do things right the first time, it's typically easier than having to do them over. And it saves time in the long run!

We have, in the WA community, the training, ongoing support and help from our friends around the world, that enables us to work at our own pace -- and get things done the right way. I just have to remind myself of those old sayings I learned as a young boy on the farm. As it turns out, those pearls of wisdom provide common sense counsel, even today.

Thanks for reading my blog, and commenting if you see fit.

Warmly,

Terry (Ole Hippie Chaplain)

The times we have to slow down is when we can create the most
Sami.

Hey Terry, I too am a type A and for us, patience is not always our best characteristic. The older I get, the more I realize that if my Mother often used a saying, it was true. In he defense of mistakes, I will say that they can be a lesson learned. Take Care, Erin

Hi Erin,
Very true. Mistakes can be great teachers. Thanks for reading my blog--and for your feedback. Warmly, Terry

Keep on Keepin On :-)

Pearls of wisdom and common sense altruism. I may or may not listen??

Curt

Thanks Curt
Hope things are going well for you.
Warmly, Terry

Things are looking up. I wish the same for you.

Curt

Yes very true, I think some of us want to learn quickly and try to rush things, I find much better to take your time and absorb what your learning.
Cheers Peter

Thanks Peter! I'm learning to keep my "type A" personality in check. While we all want to make money online, the journey is more of a marathon than a sprint, to be sure.
Warmly, Terry

Measure twice. Cut once.

Hi Ken, Haven't I heard (and said) that quite a few times in the old construction days! And the same rule most assuredly applies in the WA community.
Warmly,
Terry

It sure does.

Hi Terry - do it right first time I know and agree 1000% but when you are in such a rush to get your site going believe me you miss so much and spend a month cleaning up all the mess!!!!

Isn't it true Paul?! My experience of rushing here at WA contributed to my writing this post.
Regards, Terry

That is cool but it is such a pity we miss so much but all part of the learning curve I think!

When you don't slow down and do things right the first time life just passes you by and you can miss so much. Thanks for sharing!
