No, I'm not talking birthday. lol

Wednesday I posted my FIFTIETH article written for my website. Almost all of them are at least 1,500 words long. Most are over 2,000, since that became my "norm".

I don't know if it's coincidence or not, but this week I'm also starting to see a rise in my daily traffic. Was it my latest post just reaching more people? Is it because I'm filmiong video interviews now?? Is Google just deciding I've paid my dues and deciding to spritz my site with Google juice at last??!

Who knows. Could be all of the above. I'll just take the progress and keep on truckin'.

Amazon is currently my affiliate link company and I don't think that'll ever change, tho' I hope to have some other options one day. Through Amazon I've managed to prompt 106 clicks, snag 12 orders, of which 5 of them have shipped. That has earned me a whopping $5.25 so far.

Party on my yacht!!

Okay, maybe not, but it's a good start I think for being only four months into this. At least I'm seeing stats rise, albeit slowly, in the right direction - UP!

Two weeks ago, I also started to see 5 to 10 of my posts being looked at every day, instead of just 3 or 4, or my latest one. It must be Google is extending my reach somehow.

How about you? Are your sites progressing? Are you writing, writing, posting, posting, repeating, repeating??

I hope so. It takes work, but we're our own boss, and soon the scoffers will see this boat float... on a beautifully rising tide!

Best of success to you from all your efforts!

TJ

Success is coming, Tj.
I write around 1500 to 2000 words as well. Can't seem to do any less.
David

That's great that everything is going so well. Congrats on #50!

I'd test that whole Amazon idea, though. Unless you are talking about something that's an impulse purchase, you could be really hurt by their one day cookie. Test Amazon sales against another merchant offering great products, but with a longer cookie and probably much higher commission rate!

I'd like that! Unfortunately, in my site's market (pro audio) I've only found Affiliates that offer LESS than Amazon. Some cookies are longer, but the %s are pathetic.

Which would you opt for, Jeannine? Longer cookies with lower %? Or shorter cookies with higher %??

I would test and compare the two, or give your site visitors the choice of two places to purchase the item. I hate shopping on Amazon, and I will always find another place to buy the same item or something I deem better. I'm guessing that your visitors don't decide same day to buy an item, so a higher percentage of $0 is less attractive than a lower percentage of $XXX.

Remember too, if you start selling a lot of product, it's quite possible that the other merchants would consider increasing your commission rate. That does happen often for proven performers.

Congratulations TJ! it's so nice to read how much you have progressed, it's inspiring

How about you?? Are you working your cool music site?!

this month have been going slow so far since i've been busy with other stuff (related to music as well which is cool), but i'm working to get back on my routine again. I just finished planning my content for the rest of the month :D

Well, keep at it. Persistence pays off with this stuff.

Did you see my first video interview?? It's in "Site Comments" right now. Check it out. We had super musical FUN!!

really? i'm going to check it out right now!

Enjoy! I know WE did!! lol

Well done TJ. Impressive!

Thanks, Craig. Have you decided on your niche yet??

My site is one week old tomorrow, so very early days. Your post here reminds me to keep patient. Impatience has always been my downfall.

It's good to see you still enjoying it and seeing some progress.
Good luck for the future.

I really DO enjoy this work, Nick. Probably because I've always liked writing in various forms: songwriting, fiction, non-fiction, journals... it's been a means of personal expression for decades. Website posts have a different writing style and approach, but when all's said & done.. it's still good ol'-fashioned writing!

I took the advice of the masters here at W.A. and just assumed I won't see much happen until 6 months. Now that I'm seeing rising stats earlier... I'm a happy camper!
