Focusing AdWords Express on Google Search instead of "Partner Sites"

Hi, everyone. Just thought I'd drop a quick line and let you know of my recent experience with AdWords.

I ran a campaign that was getting TENS of THOUSANDS of views, but hardly any clicks.

I had written my ad very strategically, with nothing but relevant, germane verbiage to draw a certain type of person in.

I noticed that the stats, however, said that 97% of the views were from "Google Partner Sites".

I searched that and here's what it says: "A Google partner site is simply a website that has been successfully approved by Google to run AdSense adverts on their site."

Well, that meant that my ad was going to LOTS of people that had no relevance to my site at all! Why in the world would we even waste our money that way?!

So I CALLED AdWords. I asked them this simple question: "Can you take Partner Sites off of my ad campaign so my ad ONLY shows on the Google Search Engine when someone actually is looking for what I'm advertising?"

Their answer? Yes. Within 24 hours my stats had changed and almost all views were from Google Search. My REACH had gone down, but my CLICKS had gone up, substantially. What did this mean? It meant what I had suspected was true. Now my ad was getting in front of people who were actually searching for what I had written about. Relevancy wins the day again.

If you are trying out Google AdWords Express, I recommend you do the same as me if you want relevant customers to click to your site. Otherwise, your ad will be showing up to tens of thousands of people who probably could care less about your site and genre.

Think about it: after all the work you put into creating your ad with a specific target audience in mind, doesn't it make sense to get it in front of THOSE people?

Obviously the answer's yes. And phoning AdWords Express is the way to make sure that happens.
