Vacation is Over - Back to Work!

After working so hard for two straight months on developing my blog and learning everything I needed to know for future success, I took a break. A very long break.

My son was 10 months old and taking over everything! He not only mastered the art of crawling, but developed a curiosity for climbing and walking. He is quite exhausting! Not to mention, we were planning our first big road trip at the end of the month and all my "free time" was spent packing, preparing and cleaning. It's safe to say I only "plugged in" to my blog about 3 times in the month of July.

Unacceptable.

Although I did receive a monthly paycheck from WA, I knew the only way to continue receiving the pay would be to keep working. When you work hard early on and develop a strong foundation for your blog to steadily produce revenue, then those "month vacations" won't kill you. But I am not quite there yet. I have a LONG way to go.

As I think about all the work I need to do, I get discouraged. I was on such a good routine before and then life happened. I could beat myself up about not sticking to the plan and getting lazy, but I am a mom. I work 24/7. Its hard work and I was naïve to think it would get easier. I have major respect for all mom bloggers out there! We never stop working! But what I really need right now is motivation. I need something to drive me towards success.

This blog started out as a hobby, that I learned could be profitable. Wealthy Affiliate has provided me with all the tools I need to make it a success, but I have to actually use the tools to make anything happen.

So this is me, getting back into my toolbox and working again....

Welcome back :) And I'm very happy to see you doing well here in WA!

Keep up the great work!

Hi Tiffany! I am a dad with a 1 yr. old and an almost 3 yr. old. I feel much the way you do about the difficulty of blogging, or doing anything really, when you have to give so much attention to your kids. We are not sleeping nights because of the 1 yr. old, so we are always exhausted. We work opposing schedules, so I have to take care of them mornings while my wife is at work.
It sounds like you have managed to be successful under similar circumstances, so I will be interested in following you. Even though things have been going slower than I had hoped, I am really enjoying WA and sometimes it's hard getting through weekends as I need to devote all my time to family and have to put everything else on hold.
Best wishes, and I do hope you get some 'free time' as well!

I totally understand your situation John! My "1 week vacation" turned into 2 months! I felt like such a failure and knew I was paying the price, literally, to keep my WA account going but not working. I also received a notice from Amazon Associates saying that I had not made a sale in 60 days and could be let go and have to reapply later. That put me in the "almost give up" mode. Looking back at the last 2 months, I realize that I did get lazy and missed opportunities to work my blog, but it was mostly because my energy level had depleted from a high energy little boy keeping me on my toes!
Keeping my fingers crossed and my prayers strong that my husband gets the promotion he needs so I can stay at home full time and really get to work! Wishing you all the luck in your journey here and in hopes that with time, your success will be within reach sooner than later! It really is true when Kyle said it could take 6 months - a year to fully develop a stable revenue. I get that now. Life happens and we have to be flexible with that.
Looking forward to seeing you succeed and learn and grow here at WA!

Thanks for your message Tiffany. I started WA about 4 months ago. I have learned a lot, but have been going fairly slow and am just getting ready to sign up for affiliate networks and so on. Not sure if I will earn anything, but happy about how my website has turned out. I start my semester today, so we will see how many hours I can get in. Hope your husband gets, or got the promotion. This does take a lot of time and energy and kids take so much of that! Best of luck to you and thanks for the follow.
John
