How To Create Posts Grid On Your Blog Page and Have It On Your Homepage As Well?
Hi everyone,
First, I was surprised that when I wanted to create this as training and a popup appeared to tell me I had to be a Premium member for 3 months before I can create any training. Whatever. Haha
Kindly allow me to qualify that I do know that this can be done with hardcoding; i.e. Programming. But for those who are not IT geeks like me, here is an easier way.
First, visit my website to see what I mean - https://timotheuslee.com/.
Notice my posts are in a grid display on the homepage - scroll down a little to see that section. When you click on Digital Marketing Blog option at the main menu, you will see the same posts grid display on the page there. (On the homepage, you can arrange the sequence of the sections. What this means is you can choose to have your blog section at the top instead of having it further down like mine)
How did I create that without programming? Easy.
Choose a Theme that allows you to have sections on the homepage. The one I chose for my website is Twenty Seventeen.
Next, get a plugin to display your posts as a grid. There are many post grid display plugins. You can do a search on WordPress for the many post grid plugins. The one I use is Content Views by PT Guy. The plugin is easy to use. Simply choose options on how you wish your posts to appear, what type of grid format, number of columns, what fields to display, etc.
The plugin will generate a shortcode. Copy this shortcode and paste on your Blog Page.
Once you are happy with how your posts are displayed as a grid (using the plugin) on your Blog Page, go on to the next steps.
With the theme earlier selected (the one with sections), do the following steps.
Go to Appearances > Customize > Static > under Front Page Displays choose A Static Page. After you chose A Static Page, you will see a new option appear under the Customize list of options - Theme Options. (note - this is for the Twenty Seventeen theme. Other themes with sections may have different ways of allowing you to add sections)
Click on Theme Option, and you will see options to allow you to choose which pages to appear as a section on your homepage. E.g. Front Page Section 1 Content - if you choose your Blog Page, then your Blog Page will appear in section 1 of your homepage. This means it will appear at the top of your homepage.
And because this 'pulls' the content from your Blog Page, this means that the same content from your Blog Page will still be there. In other words, you will have your Blog Page content on your homepage as well as it still remaining in your Blog Page.
* Additional Note - as you can see on my homepage I have 'pulled' content from my Blog Page as well as other pages that I deemed important.
And that's it!
Your posts will appear as post grid on your Blog Page as well as on your homepage.
I hope this is helpful for anyone seeking to do this for their homepage? Please do leave a comment on my website, on any of the blog posts, too. Thanks in advance.

I am using the same template. However, when I downloaded the plugin, I don't see where to find the code to put on my home page. Can you private message me with further details?
You're welcome. Thank you for the kind compliments. We're all learning together and I'm grateful for that.
Please leave a comment on my website - https://timotheuslee.com
And visit and leave a comment on my other website too - https://asiatravelgems.com. I've not done the grid on this site yet as there's only 1 post. Finishing my 2nd post this week and you'll see the grid post then. :)
I'll be glad to return the favor and leave comments on your site too. :)
You're welcome Angie.
Thanks for loving my website. Please leave a comment on any of the posts.
Do let me know how it goes for your website to do this tip?
If you need me to leave a comment on your site please let me know. Will be glad to do it. :)
Timotheus,
I was looking for the plugin you suggested so I could make a grid of my posts, but it seems it is no longer available. Is there another one you can suggest?
Content views? I no longer use that. I think I mentioned in one of my messages to you that I now use The Post Grid - http://demo.radiustheme.com/wordpress/plugins/the-post-grid/
Search for The Post Grid, Make sure it's by radiustheme.
I did find that a couple of days ago. Just have to figure out now how to use it. I am very green at this whole process and pretty much overwhelmed at this point. Thanks for your suggestion, though.
Thanks so much, Timotheus. You are a lifesaver. I was going to check that here shortly, but you beat me to it. Again, thank you.
Oh btw Angie, check out this other site of mine - https://asiatravelgems.com. I've not done the post grid yet. Cos only 1 post so far. I'll be adding more and will do the same for this site. :)
Such a neat website. Love the clean look. After reading your post, I feel like packing my bags for Bhutan. Are those your personal photos taken when you were in Bhutan?
Thanks again Angie! Yes, that's what I am hoping for - the reaction from visitors to want to travel to places I feature on the site. Then hopefully they click on the affiliate links and I get paid. haha
Yes, those are my photos. Now that you mentioned it - do I need to add copyright on the photos or is the copyright statement at the footer of the entire website good enough? What do you think?
Once again thanks! :)

Thank you for your post. Your goto attitude is awesome. I just changed my theme from 27. But your post was helpful nonetheless.
Thanks! :)
My website has changed quite a bit since this post.
I have tried other themes, and now eventually back to 27 again. This time, I like it cos it works well with Gutenberg. Plus, I always like designs that are clean, simple and elegant.
