No Edit Menu on Posts & Pages?

I have only been able to add posts in the Text mode and this has a limited edit menu - cannot find the "kitchen sink" to see the 2nd menu line. The Visual mode is blank with no cursor in the content box, plus no edit menu at all. I set up the test site with NEBlue theme and everything works fine with full menu in Visual and cursor to enable adding content. I switched to the NEBlue theme on my tiggilovesbooks site & back to square one. I have deactivated all plugins with no success either.
The test site was fine for about an hour then Edit Menu disappeared in the Visual mode and no cursor in the Content box either in Visual mode. Have been Googling problem but they suggest plugin or theme problem, but changing those hasn't helped.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
