Small Success - Increase In Traffic on One of My YouTube Videos

Over the past three days I had one of my YouTube videos see increased traffic. YouTube says it has 183% more views than the previous seven day period and 179% more watch time as well.

Percentages Lie

Although those percentages are pretty impressive, the raw numbers are slightly less. The raw numbers are 2.3k views and 9.1 watch hours in the last seven days. The small amount of watch hours is due to it being a short 14 second video. Average view duration is 84.4% which equates to about 11 seconds.

I'm still really excited about the increase in traffic because every few contributes to reaching the 4000 watch hour requirement to be a YouTube partner and is a potential new channel subscriber.

This video alone has given me four new subscribers for a total of seven subscribers. I'm only 993 subscribers away from reaching the subscriber requirement for YouTube partners, lol.

In case your interested, 99% of the views are coming from YouTube's Suggested Videos feature.

Commenting On Other Videos in my Niche

I'm active in one of the forums in my niche and it has an area where you can share your YouTube videos that you think other members might find interesting Lately, I've been making an effort to like and comment on other forum members' YouTube videos.

Since I've been doing that another forum member has started commenting on some of my videos, which is nice. I'm still going to comment on other videos, even if I don't get comments back, because I'm interested in seeing if that helps me get views to my videos.

Celebrating the Small Wins

That's really all I have to say. I just wanted to celebrate a small win. Only time will tell if the traffic for this video reaches a peak and then dies back down or continues at a sustained higher level of views.

Even if traffic drops back down, it's still really fun to see sudden increases in views.
