INTRODUCTION

We all want to be better today than we were yesterday and to see progress. And in most cases we do make progress. But we don't often recognize it, or we would celebrate every day.

For most of us, the challenge is that we may not have made as much progress as we had planned or hoped. So, we mistakenly think that our efforts or hard work have not paid off.

GIVING UP BECOMES A TEMPTATION

That's when we may be tempted to slow down or even throw in the towel because

"What's the use?"

Worse still, we may stop in our tracks to go start something else.

Big mistake.

Giving up or abandoning a project, you have worked hard at, means wasted precious time and energy.

Every step taken is worth it, as long as it is a step forward. And no knowledge is useless. You may not be able to use it immediately, but there will come a time when it will come in handy. So, always learn something and keep moving.

CAN YOU MEASURE PROGRESS?

There is no standard tool to measure progress just as there is none to measure success. That is why comparing yourself to others is not a good idea.

You and your neighbour may start building your houses at the same time. He might finish building the foundation earlier while you are still busy digging. That does not necessarily mean that you have made little or no progress. The reason might simply be that while you had to clear the bushes and dig out the rocks before laying the foundation, the property next door needed no such preparation.

On Sunday the 6th of December I shall be celebrating my second month WA Anniversary. So, I had to pause and reflect.

HOW MUCH PROGRESS HAVE I MADE?

Not as much as I had hoped.

My first reaction was to think: "This is pathetic. I have not even finished Level 1 of OEC".

But before long, I came to my senses. The fact that I am writing my third WA blog is progress.

As I looked back, I was soon celebrating and patting my back.

WHERE DID I START?

Two months ago, going through a lesson was excruciatingly slow. I would read something, then break into a sweat trying to figure out what it meant. I had to watch a video several times before I could move forward as I couldn't follow some instructions at all.

My computer and internet vocabulary was zero. Even a plugin was a foreign concept.

WHERE AM I NOW?

Two months later, I can confidently communicate with like-minded business people online. I have gotten rid of most of my nerves in writing and posting. More importantly, I can now welcome newbies and boldly offer advice when it's needed. And what's more, I keep moving,

For someone who had zero background in business and in the online world, the progress I have made is remarkable.

For that I am grateful.

CONCLUSION

I would not have made it this far were it not for the support and encouragement from my WA family. My progress may be imperceptible, but it is real. Thank you, Kyle and Carson for building WA.

The part that members of this community have played and are playing in my growth is difficult to describe. I have learnt that no matter how hard the journey is, I am not alone. Reading some posts from the community continue to motivate and inspire me. But it's mostly the success stories that give me energy to go on. They are a constant reminder that with hard work, success is inevitable.

So, I keep moving. For momentum propels success.

I am reading this at a time when my progress has ground to a halt! Working as a practice manager for a successful practice while juggling 4 adult children who have all decided to get married in 2023 has me spinning. I currently get home from work around 6 pm and lose motivation to do further when I walk in the house. I know why I started this and the potential it has if I stick with it is huge, how do I get past this motivation barrier?

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate already and I'm sure that is messing with your motivation. 4 marriages in the same year?? My daughters got married a year apart and that was still hectic. Fortunately my wife handled most of the planning with the daughters. I had a problem with motivation too because i had a full time job and was doing gig work on the side delivering food. I finally had to quit the delivery business, sat down with my wife to set some goals and a plan for how much I would work on my new business. I even asked her to be my manager to hold me to the time it takes. I still have motivation issues, but that start to go away as i stick with my goals and look to the future.

Thank you Scott, I appreciate the advice and insight. I think once I can get that momentum going again along with some help from my wife that will certainly help at least get started again. Thank you for taking the time to help me out today... I will keep you posted!

You have awesome advice here, however motivation comes from within. One step at a time at your own pace. Knowing your WHY as you already have stated, the how becomes easier.

Not pathetic at all, Thokozile! We all move at different paces with different priorities! Many people here a lot longer than you have not completed the OEC, myself included. Some pursued the Affiliate bootcamp, and still others, including myself have other goals to accomplish besides affiliate marketing! The beautiful part about WA is that we can work-at-our-own-pace!

Great post!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff for stopping by and for the encouragement.

You're very welcome!😎

Great post, Thokolie7, You made some great points!

I must disagree with this statement:
> Giving up or abandoning a project, you have worked hard at, means wasted precious time and energy.

There are times that we realize that no matter what we do, the goal cannot be reached, and we must stop altogether.

In my opinion, it is much better to recognize that end, than to continue on, in the name of completion.

I would rather garner the experience and knowledge gained by the effort made with that project, rather than spin my wheels on a project that will never come to fruition, now THAT is a waste of time.

You’re quite correct Rudy. It should have read “may mean wasted precious time and energy”. Thank you for stopping by.

Thokozile, find what suits you, not others. Everybody works at different paces but as long as you understand each lesson/part you will do well. Its not a race its a business.
Bux

Thank you for stopping by Bux. And thank you for your encouraging comments.
