Celebrate Accomplishments and Take Nothing for Granted
CHEERS
It's three months and seven days since I joined WA,
From day one I have been learning, growing and getting to know this great WA family.whose support has been invaluable.
The road, however, has been far from smooth because of some personal challenges I have had from time to time.
So why celebrate?
I am celebrating for a number of reasons. The chief reason is that being my own boss, means that there is now an opportunity for me to create a bright future for my family and I, and to make a difference in the lives of others.,
This is a way of expressing my gratitude for where I am at, for what I have and for a bright future that I can already see.
CELEBRATE HEALTH
There's another reason why it is celebration time.
Almost four years ago, a few months before I was due to retire, I suffered a stroke and spent two months in hospital. I had to relearn how to feed myself, bathe, dress and walk without aid - all the things that I had taken for granted before then. Fortunately I survived and and I am getting stronger every day.
LIFE'S VALUABLE LESSON
I am a believer in that everything that happens to us, is teaching us something.
That health challenge taught me one huge, valuable lesson. To take nothing for granted.
Many times we become so engrossed in work that we ignore other aspects of our lives. We may be grateful for all the gifts that the creator gave us but the quality of our lives will depend on how well we balance those gifts.
Before I became ill, work was almost an obsession. It was a very stressful kind of job. And, as if that was not enough, I worked all hours of the day and night. Even weekends. I took work home, and struggled to switch off even when I went to sleep. This was nothing unusual as almost all my colleagues did just that. It was that kind of job. But that's not the point. The point is that was not ideal for me.
I led this kind of life for many years. And when ill-health struck, I was devastated but not surprised. I was reaping what I had sown. At 70, it was my time for retirement. But that's not how I would have wished to say good-bye to my colleagues - carried away from my chambers on a stretcher by the ambulance crew. Thankfully, I survived and can now put what I learned into practice.
WHAT HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH WEALTHY AFFILIATE
As Wealthy Affiliates we own our businesses. We make goals that we want to see realized. So, we work hard. Sometimes at the cost of what matters to us most. In my case it was my health that suffered. Things could been a lot worse. For that Iam grateful.
I have known people who worked hard to improve their lives and that of their families only to lose their families at the end.
The answer to this is to learn to create a balance in all areas of our lives. Only with balance can we hope to have a truly successful business.
So, as I begin my fourth month here at WA, I am taking one day at a time and rest as much as I can when I need to. There is no rush for me. As long as I am able to do the few things that I have on the calendar for the day, I am happy.
I take nothing for granted. I am grateful that I am able to spend time with my husband of 51 years and my grand children who regularly brighten our house with their presence. I check on my friends often.
I am grateful for the friendships I have built here at WA. I have learned so much from everyone of you. The inspiration I get from the various success stories is one of the things that keep me going. Thank you.
MY PLAN FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS 2021
* Do and complete the OEC training
* Do the AFFILIATE BOOTCAMP by the beginning of June 2021
* January - Publish two WA posts per week
* February - Publish three posts per week
* March - Publish four posts per week
* April - Publish a post everyday
The overall plan is that at eight months, I should be able to see some real progress.
In the meantime I continue to celebrate.

Thokozile this post was eye opening for me. First off I thought you were about 50 so compliments to you for continuing to bring that kind of energy. Secondly I thought you were a guy....don't ask me why just did. Glad to have a better sense of who you are. Happy that you are recovering and enjoying the less stressful life
Hugh
Hi Hugh. Thank you for reading my post and for your kind comments. I am indeed enjoying a stress-free life - something that I never thought was possible until my retirement. I am glad you now have a better sense of who I am.
My son, who is 50, would find amusing if I were to tell him that someone thought I was 50.
Glad to hear you've conquered life's obstacles....we don't realize how strong we are until that moment arises where you have to choose how to respond to those challenges...
You have a solid plan, I wish you well on your journey to meet your goals....
Rudy
Thank you Rudy for stopping by and for your comments. You're correct. We don't realize how strong we are until we are faced with a challenge. How we respond is what matters. Sometimes it is the challenge itself that makes us stronger.
You have dome well! And you are also growing slow and steady
Congratulations on your achievements so far. Success awaits you on your journey
