My Chess Journey 2nd Part

So,I kept playing chess online all by myself for quit a while and I haven't even play with Frankie.

The reason for that was I just wanna kept my developments under the carpet until I play Frankie for real. So we haven't met until the late winter. One evening I was about to having dinner and I have got a phone call from him and he told me that there would be a chess tournament ( not a real one: he invites five of his chess friends and play each other from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon with little sleep. We used to call that Chess Madness Weekend ). By that time, I was really happy because I have had some experiences over the internet chess games. I answered him 'Yes' I would join your chess party.

We have played each other and each player would get Three points for a win, One point for a draw and Zero points for a lose game. I have had a good start and that was not because of my brilliant play, it was because of my opponent horrible blunder. Second game I drew with my opponent and so on. At Sunday afternoon, everyone was so tired and wanted to go home for a good sleep. I said thanks to Frankie for the invitation for me to join the weekend chess. After that weekend, I became regular in that group. Yes, I drew with Frankie for Two games and One lost. But I was quite happy with the results and he said that I have improved so much. I have met with a guy from the tournament. His name is Toby. Wow man!, he is a very good chess player and he talk too much ( I hate him for that ). I have terrible games against him. Even with my online chess experiences, he is on another level ( we have personal battles between us and I will write about another blog for that because it includes massive hate, revenges and crazy sacrifice chess games...etc )

I went back to the drawing board and analyze famous chess players' games. Until that time, I didn't have chess mentor or haven't read a single chess book yet. I just keep playing by myself and making a lot of mistakes. I have been humiliated by some guys by playing chess online. They were winning the game and they didn't kill off my king and they promoted their pawns into Queens. I have resigned when I was in the situation rather than waiting to be killed. Those experiences were so painful. I was playing chess online consistently for nearly two years and the result was amazing. I regularly won weekend tournaments and one day Frankie told me in front of other players, since you knew every move I was going to make, how could i beat you? That was one of the proudest moments of my chess journey. You see? To get that moment, I have played chess consistently for more than two years. So I am telling you from my own experiences, Do what you have to Do consistently and don't even think about other stuffs and Success will come just before you know it.

I thought I was ready to beat The Man.And I asked Frankie for advice. Frankie told me that he wasn't in London anymore and he have moved to Sheffield one year ago. So I asked Frankie that if I go to Sheffield, will you come along with me? Next Friday evening, we were on the train to Sheffield. Before we went, I made a phone call to him and he told me if i wanna Taste The Defeat Come To Sheffield. So I told him, Game On!.

When we arrived Sheffield, it already dark. So we decided to go the very next day. This was a game I couldn't afford to lose for many reasons. Frankie was excited to be a spectator for a guarantee good games of chess. The results? I made him to eat his words but to our surprise , he has two lovely kids. We didn't even know it before. His elder son was watching our last game (we have played three games) and I could see The Man's embarrassed face because he knew that he was losing badly and there was no chance to have a counter play for him because I wouldn't allow him. I never like to say this to a man but for his father's proud sake, I made the game to be A DRAW.

Before we left, he shook my hand and said ' Thank you and Well Play'. To me, he was still a good chess player and good father.

I have been improving very fast after I joined chess club at my local and I have had some very good chess friends. Two of them were professional chess players and at that time they were regional masters. And they told me that if I wanted to be a professional chess player, they would help me. So until that time I didn't have any plan to be a professional. I just played chess as my hobby. Finally, I became a pro in 2005. And I have achieved my International Master Title in 2010 in London Chess Tournament. Now I am teaching chess for Charity at the weekend ( For Kids ).
