Just to note down few thoughts:

  • 4 articles done. 96 more to go.
  • Sitemanger -> posting frequency stressed me out! So, screw it, I am not checking it again until I have completed certain number of posts.
  • If I had a dollar everytime I see new member write a blog post celebrating Google index, I can afford WA subscription for the rest of my life.
  • Log in to WA is really as bad as checking Facebook status. So much distractions and time wasting. Screw it, no more browsing. Always click on Training tab immediately after log in.
  • Reading success stories does not bring you success. Work does.

done. Back to work now.

I know what you mean about the distractions. I fall foul too.

We are responsible on how we use our time. You know the training completion schedule you've created for yourself. I suggest doing that first, and then browsing through the platform.

If you have a solution to a question, by all means answer it.

I've never been on a business building website quite like Wealthy Affiliate. And I am so grateful I did.

Keep up the good work.

Edwin

Hey Gavin,

Some food for thought!

Although I may agree with your thoughts to a point.

However:

I do encourage new members to read the success stories, and as you said they do not bring success. But what they do bring can allow for success: they put that idea of what could be if I too follow the training and implement what is learned through it.

Being Indexed is not a big event in the life cycle of a business in actuality it really has no importance at all. But for the person just starting out, it is one achievement that has more significance than any other: it validates what you are doing (creating a new website many for the first time), is recognized - this is real!

I guess if you really wanted to you could compare the Wa community and all the activity going on as a distraction that could if you allow it to keep you from building your own business.

But what happens if someone shares something that is directly related to something you are going to try or have been thinking about implementing in your business strategy. And they reported that the same thing you were getting ready to try did them no good what so ever they actually experienced negative results because of the new strategy.

This has just saved you countless hours of frustrations that you will never experience because you took ten minutes to read another members blog about using XYZ social media platform that has nothing but 6-16-year-olds as their main profile base.

Is the community a waste of time then?

This community is not all about Gavin or even me for that matter, it is about helping every member of the community. Yes at times, it will seem that everyone and their brother is posting the same thing, we just had four blogs on the Canva security breach. Some may think of that as overkill.

I for one want to thank all four members that were thoughtful enough and cared enough to think of what it could mean to me and my business to know about this event so that I can take the necessary steps to protect what is mine.

The best thing about Wealthy Affiliate (In my opinion) is the community and the business insight they offer to the entire membership. The community has a willingness to help others at all times and at all cost.

So when I see a member posting that they just got indexed. I see another member getting justification that what they achieved in the first week or two of being a WA member is starting to amount to something and as a WA member it makes me proud to see those members post that achievement. Because that tells me that even though the membership continues to grow rapidly it still is mainly a caring and helpful membership.

I would much rather have a member post something that has no relevance to my business than to have a member not post something that could have helped me in my business strategy in the near future.

There are silver linings in some gray clouds a lot has to do with the way we perceive them: as to whether it will benefit us as business owners or not!
