Very often I see new members getting excited about his/her website getting indexed by Google. So I thought I will write a short post to show you a few ways to check if your website is indexed, in case WA did not notify you fast enough.

I know having your website or blog post indexed is such a joyful experience..... :D

How to verify if a website is indexed by Google, Bing, or Yahoo

#1 Use 'site:yourdomain.com'

To check if a website is indexed, go to Google.com (or other search engines), and type the following in the search box:

site:youdomain.com

If the website is indexed, all indexed pages with the current meta tags will appear in the search result.

#2 Use Google Index Checker smallseotools.com

Head to https://smallseotools.com/google-index-checker/

Enter up to 5 domains or URLs in the search box, click on "View Index Status". The index checker will return the result in an instant.

#3 Use URL inspection in Bing Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console

The first things you want to do when building a new site is to set up Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools account. If you haven't done so, stop reading, and do it now.

Both Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools offer URL inspection function. The tool instantly show you if an URL is indexed.

So head over https://www.bing.com/webmasters and select URL Inspection on the side bar.

or at the top search box of Google Search console (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dashboard)

Type in the URL of your website, or blog post in the search box,

If the result is something like "URL is on Google" or "Indexed successfully" on Bing, congratulations, your site is indexed.

These are the 3 methods you can use to check if your website is indexed. If you WA is not notifying you quick enough.

How to get your website indexed quickly?

While we have no control on how fast a search engine index our sites, there are a few ways we can do to hopefully accelerate the process.

  • Make sure your sitemap of your website is set up properly.
  • Build internal links within your content
  • Share your site content on social media platforms
  • Submit your sitemap to more than one search engines
  • Continue creating new content

It normally takes at least a few days for Search Engines to index a new website. So do what you have to do, and the rest is just a waiting game (hopefully , it is not too long for you).

That's it. I hope this short post is helpful.

Good luck!

The Real "I Got Indexed" Gavin.
