The road to greatness
Hey, Fray here... creator of the fledgling www.packingthewriteway.com
I spent years writing travel blog posts, stories to entertain myself and friends. Then after a few award nominations I realised I should actually start taking it seriously and develop it, but with no guidance or direction I just stagnated.
I tried a few other programs, but they were geared towards hardcore blogging, which sucked all the joy out of my storytelling.
Now I'm a week into WA, and I'm super happy. Every lesson I'm learning a new nugget of info... a new pearl of wisdom! The pace of the lessons is forcing me to create stories (because that’s effectively what I'm still doing... writing stories, but now with purpose) at a much faster pace. Normally I'd sweat over a post for weeks, but now I'm bashing out short, fun, informative pieces every night.
I see the foundations coming together, and I'm excited. Occasionally I want to rush ahead and start hard-selling to bring in the cash, but so far everything that has been explained in the lessons has made sense and has been productive, so I will follow the course until the end... and beyond.
It's a good feeling knowing you have direction.
Another side effect is that I'm reaching out much more, in both this community and to my other travel friends. I'm seeking (and receiving by the bucketload) inspiration and encouragement at every turn. The idea of 'Writer's block' (which is horrible) has all but been banished, as if I'm ever stuck I know that there's a few thousand people floating around in the WA community that I can ask for advice.
A big thank you to everyone that's helped so far, and to the untold amount who will be my future guides and mentors. With this guidance and mentorship I'm confident that the financial rewards will not be far off.
Regards,
Fray

That's awesome that you are feeling so positive and motivated by WA! I'm feeling the same way! I love your site so far. I look forward to watch it grow!
Thanks Serenity!
I loved the Gorp article. Do you mind if I reference/link to it? It will fit perfectly (once I get the site fully fleshed out)
I know exactly what you mean, how WA gives the sense of direction, yet allows you to be creative and to be yourself. You are doing a great job, Fray, keep it up! Your website gives me wanderlust, haha!
Awesome! Mission accomplished :)
I've already got some guest posts in the pipeline, and the plan is to fill out all the other sections this weekend.
What's your website address? I couldn't see it listed in your profile page
