Time - Get Control
Like the song "Fly like an eagle" by The Steve Miller Band says;
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future.
It's The Truth
Time does not stand still. It is constantly moving you to the future.
So, if you find yourself getting ready for bed, asking yourself, where did all the time go today?
And, we all have!
Just remember, it dose not't stand still, and you can't get it back.
So, make the best use of the time you have.
Evaluate Your Day
What I like to do is think of all the things I want to accomplish during a given day, and when during the day do I have time to work on those task.
Some things in my day have to be done at a certain time and have set hours, I call these the core items, like a job and sleep. These things are the core part of my day in which I build the rest of my time around.
Next are the things that are important for me on a given day. These will vary from day to day.
Next are the would like to do things, kind of my wish list. If I have time, I will do these things.
Make A List
As I evaluate my day, I make a list. Experts say the best way to do this is to write your schedule down and refer to it throughout the day. I do this mentally, it works for me, but you need to do what works best for you.
An example of my daily list;
Core Things
- 2 hours - when I first wake up are used to get ready for work and drive to work. I usually fit in around 20 minutes of WA time while having my morning coffee.
- 9.5 hours - Is dedicated to working my full time job, and getting home. Not much I can do about this one.
- 7 hours - Is dedicated to sleep. At least that is what I try to make sure happens.
Important Things
- 1 hour - for dinner with my wife.
- 0.5 hour - exercise
- 1 hour - for life thing, like dog care, trash, clean, fix something, etc
- 1 to 2 hours - Shopping, etc., and time with my wife
Would Like To Things
- Work on WA
- Pratice playing guitar
- Pratice Itialian
- Read, Study, Learn something new
As you look over my list it is important to note the core things hours are set in stone, Monday through Friday.
The important things hours vary and take precedence over the would like to things.
Would like to things, well they get what ever time is left, that's why I do not have assigned hours, and not all of them happen every day, sometime I have to pick and choose, but at least two, feels like success.
My Daily and Weekly Goals
My list above is essentially my daily goals every day of the week, minus the work related items on the weekend, but there are plenty of things that fill their void.
So for me, the core and important things are a given, they are going to happen. However, the would like to things, oh yes, those things, they are the things that when I accomplish, even one, I am not left asking myself as I get ready for bed, where did all the time go today.
Make Time
We know time does not stand still, and we can't get it back, so, what do we do? We make time for what we want, we make time for what we love, we make time for what will better our lives.
When we do, we find peace, happiness, and success.

Sounds interesting, but right now, I take what is given and let that dictate my day! Believe me, there is NEVER a dull moment!

Thanks Jeff,
That's why I squeeze in what I can.
You're welcome! I think we all cram things in where and when we can!
