What’s the Difference, in Plain English As I See It?

When I began my journey at Wealthy Affiliate, the user experience was unlike anything I had seen before. It was useful, simple to follow, and built to help people move forward. It was a welcome relief after suffering through the pitfalls of all of the make money now traps I fell into before arriving here.

Now we are getting a major upgrade.

Kyle recently gave us a look around the new Wealthy Affiliate platform and introduced Ace, the AI assistant that will sit inside it. You can watch his full walkthrough here: Beer With Kyle Fridays: A Full Look Around the New Wealthy Affiliate and Meet Ace.

This was a preview of what is to come, and not a finished product review. Kyle made that clear. The platform is being rebuilt from the ground up, and the version shown is still being developed.

But the video does give us enough to explain one question a lot of people will have:

How is Ace different from ChatGPT?

Here is the plain-English answer as I see it.

Wealthy Affiliate Is Rebuilding the Platform

This is not just a few new buttons or a fresh paint job, and an air freshener being added to an old platform.

Kyle explained that Wealthy Affiliate is rebuilding the platform from the ground up. The goal is to make the site easier to use on desktop, tablet, and mobile. It will also keep the community side of WA in place, including live chat and member interaction which we all have come to love about the current platform.

That is a key part of all of this because the community has always been a big part of Wealthy Affiliate. AI can help you move faster, but it does not replace asking questions, sharing wins, or learning from other people who are building businesses too.

The new dashboard is meant to give members a clearer view of what they are working on and what needs attention next. That is where Ace chimes in.

What Ace Is Meant to Do

Ace is meant to be Wealthy Affiliate’s new built-in AI assistant.

Kyle described it as an assistant that understands your business, your current work, and the areas you need to focus on. In the demonstration, Ace was shown helping users find things inside the platform instead of making them hunt through menus.

For example, Kyle asked where previously created articles were located. Ace directed him to the right area where they could be found.

That may sound simple thing to many, but it is also useful for all of us. We have all clicked around a platform looking for something that should have taken ten seconds to find. Usually, it turns into a small treasure hunt using the magnifying glass. Nobody signed up for that and some get frustrated when they have to search for something they need and end up asking questions to find it. Ace should solve that problem.

Ace was also shown helping with the early steps of a new project. It asked questions about the audience, goals, content direction, and where content would be published. Those answers were then used to help set up a workspace for the project. This is a stumbling point that many new people have and I think it will solve that problem.

Kyle also discussed using Ace for content-related work, such as writing, editing, rewriting, images, and promotional content.

The main point is this: Ace is being built into the same place where WA members learn, build websites, create content, host sites, and connect with the community. It is almost like placing a supercharger on a Ford Focus.

What ChatGPT Is

ChatGPT is a general AI assistant. Or as I see it, a crutch many are overusing to create cookie cutter content.

You open a chat, type in what you need, and it helps you work through it. It can help you write a blog post, come up with titles, improve a rough paragraph, explain a confusing topic, plan content, or talk through a business idea.

It is useful because it can help with almost anything. It is harmful when people do not edit and add personal insights.

You can ask it about your website, but you need to give it the details first. You may need to explain your niche, your audience, your site structure, your goals, and the content you have already created.

That is not a flaw. ChatGPT is not built inside Wealthy Affiliate. It is a separate tool that can be used for many different jobs.

Think of ChatGPT as a smart friend you can text about almost anything. It can help you think, write, plan, and problem-solve. It is meant to help you create and not to do all of the work for you.

But it is not already inside your WA account looking at where your work lives. That is where ACE will shine and will take over.

The Main Difference

The difference is not that one tool is smart and the other is not.

The difference is where they work.

ChatGPT is a general-purpose AI tool. You bring your questions, your details, and your content to the chat.

Ace is being built as a Wealthy Affiliate assistant. It is meant to work inside the platform where your business tools, training, websites, content, and community already live.

Let’s use a simple example.

You ask ChatGPT, “Help me start a knitting website for beginners.”

ChatGPT can give you niche ideas, article topics, a content plan, and even a first draft. Then you take that work and put it into the tools you use.

In Kyle’s Ace demonstration, you could begin with that same type of idea inside Wealthy Affiliate. Ace asks questions, helps shape the project, and directs you through the platform.

ChatGPT gives you help and information.

Ace is being designed to give help and information inside the Wealthy Affiliate workspace.

That is the real difference I see between the two of them.

You Do Not Have to Pick a Winner

This does not need to be an Ace versus ChatGPT battle. But in the end, I am hoping ACE wins!

Most people will still probably use more than one AI tool, just like they use more than one app or website now.

ChatGPT can still be useful for general questions, brainstorming, writing, research ideas, and tasks outside Wealthy Affiliate.

Ace is meant to help WA members get answers, find tools, work on projects, and stay focused inside the platform.

There is room for both provided both are used properly.

The important part is not trying to use every AI tool you can find. That is an easy way to stay busy without getting much done. The important part is using the right tool for the job in front of you. Ace will end up saving money taking the place of tools you use outside of the WA environment.

One Honest Note

Ace was shown in a preview. It was not presented as a finished release that members can fully test today. We have to wait until it is released in October.

Kyle shared the direction Wealthy Affiliate is heading. He showed how Ace is intended to work and how the rebuilt platform is being designed around helping members take action.

That is what we know from the walkthrough.

As the new platform becomes available, members will get to see how Ace fits into their own workflow and how it handles real tasks day to day.

The Short Version

ChatGPT is a flexible AI assistant you can use for almost anything.

Ace is Wealthy Affiliate’s AI assistant, built to work inside the platform and help members with the work they are already doing there.

If you build your business within Wealthy Affiliate, Ace is designed to make it easier to get answers, find your next step, and keep moving without bouncing between a pile of tabs. This is going to be something that helps many create a successful business in the future. That is what I can envision at the moment.

The platform upgrade is a big change. The best part is that it is focused on helping members spend less time figuring out where to click and more time building something that can actually grow.
