Why I’m Testing the Switch to Gemini

Earlier today, I was talking with Eric, and he said something I think a lot of us are possibly feeling right now: "GPT Fatigue." He’s said that he felt as if GPT hated him, so he quit using ChatGPT and decided to give Google Gemini a shot. His initial remarks included that he was having fun and had had a lot of success.

I’ll be honest, that statement made me realize I may have been experiencing fatigue as well, because I, too, have been using it less for one reason or another, yet it still made me curious to learn more about Gemini. I’m always looking for tools that actually make life easier, not more complicated. So, I started doing my own research and testing.

For the past few hours, I’ve been running the same prompts through both Gemini and GPT while reviewing the responses side by side. The results? There is already a huge difference in the content I get back. What's worse? Many of my prompts were created with ChatGPT.

And here is a painful fact I am facing: I’m currently paying OpenAI for a subscription, yet I’m getting better results from Gemini for free.

Don’t Let AI Become a Crutch

Most people are using AI the wrong way. They treat it like a magic button that does their work for them. They ask it to "write an article" or "make a plan," and then they just copy and paste the result. I have been harping on this for some time, and it falls on deaf ears because when I post something, I still see raw AI comments. When I read a WA blog post, I see raw AI babble that remains untouched by the person who posted it.

That’s using AI as a crutch. It makes your brain lazy, and it makes your business look like a robot wrote it. It is the cookie-cutter content we often speak against.

The real secret is to use AI as a Helper. You stay in the driver's seat, and the AI acts as your world-class assistant. I have learned this, changed my ways, and am starting to see better results than before.

Why Gemini is Winning My Test So Far

The reason I’m leaning toward Gemini right now isn’t just because it’s free; it’s because it has "eyes" and can see things we miss. Using the power of Google, it can research everything it has access to and deliver the best answer possible.

In the tech world, the eggbrains call this "Multimodal." All that means is that Gemini can "see" a video or "read" a massive document and actually understand what’s happening inside it. Here is a difference I immediately saw.

• ChatGPT is like a pen pal who is really good at talking. It tells you what you want to hear.
• Gemini is like a researcher who can watch a 2-hour training video for you and tell you if the teacher actually knows what they’re talking about. It lays out the facts.

My Advice: Start Your Own Test

I’m not 100% ready to cancel my other subscription yet because I need more testing to be certain. One thing is for sure: the gap is closing fast, leaving me wondering whether my subscription is worth continuing.

This is a similar test I used to ditch Claude and move to GPT. If you want to try this out to see for yourself, don't just ask Gemini to write something. Try this instead:

1. Find a long video or a confusing PDF.
2. Give it to Gemini and ask: "What are the 3 most important things I need to know from this?"
3. Then ask: "Does this information actually make sense, or is it just fluff?"

Use the AI to verify the truth, not just to generate words. That’s how you keep everything simple, clear, and honest.

Once you can verify what it has found. Ask it for an outline and actually read it! Change what you disagree with or add to it with information you wish to expand on. Then ask it for a draft if you want it to compose one; otherwise, take your outline to our Article Designer.

See the differences for yourself, but whichever way you decide to create content, be sure to read, edit, and add a bit of yourself to it rather than taking the easy way out and using the copy-and-paste feature.

I’ll keep you posted on my final decision. For now, it’s looking like Gemini might be the new favorite tool in the Amazing toolbox. I thank Eric for speaking to me earlier today, because had he not mentioned it. I would still be experiencing GPT Fatigue, unwillingly, and possibly continue to waste money that could serve me better elsewhere.
