PPC vs SEO: One’s a Sprinter, One’s a Marathoner
Which Should You Bet On?
Let’s talk about digital marketing’s odd couple:
PPC (Pay-Per-Click) – the impatient, results-now type.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – the slow-but-steady overachiever.
Both want your website to shine on Google. They just take very different routes to get there.

Choose a Direct or a Slower Path To The Same Objective
What Is PPC, and Why Should You Care?
PPC is like hiring a bouncer to shove people through your digital front door. You bid on keywords, and when someone clicks your ad, you pay. If you’ve ever Googled something and seen a result that says "Sponsored", boom, that's PPC.
Why it’s great:
- Immediate traffic (as in: same-day results)
- Hyper-targeting by location, age, interests, even late-night impulse shoppers
- Full control over budget, timing, and keywords
- Insanely trackable: Know what works, what flops, and which ad is stealing all your lunch money
🧠 Fun Fact: You can show ads only to people using iPhones at 3AM looking for coffee mugs with cat puns. Yes, it's that specific.
What About SEO Then?
SEO is the long game. You're not paying for clicks, you're earning them by optimizing your content, building backlinks, and hoping Google gives you that sweet top-spot nod.
Why SEO still matters:
- It’s free… if you don’t count your time, stress, or therapy bills
- Trust factor – 70% of users skip ads and go straight to organic results
- Compounds over time – Like interest in your savings account (except way more fun to check daily). Disclaimer: Due to our current economy, checking your savings can be great and /or depressing, or even both!
⚠️ Warning: SEO will test your patience. Rankings can take weeks… or seasons. It’s like planting tomatoes. PPC is buying tomatoes now. SEO is growing a garden.
So Which One Should You Use?
Both.
Think of PPC and SEO like Batman and Robin, or chips and salsa. (<==I am Hungry At The Moment)
- Use PPC for fast feedback, new product launches, time-sensitive campaigns, and testing what keywords convert.
- Use SEO to build a strong foundation, rank for evergreen terms, and earn long-term trust.
Bonus: How to Get Started With PPC (Without Panic)

- Choose your platform: Google Ads is the big one. Facebook, Bing, and even Pinterest have PPC options.
- Pick your goal: Traffic? Sales? Leads? Don’t guess, define it.
- Set your budget: Start small. Even $5/day teaches you a lot.
- Spy on your competitors: What keywords are they using? Use tools like SpyFu or Ubersuggest.
- Write the ad like a human, not a robot: No one clicks “Best digital solution provider for optimized workflow excellence.”
- Track everything: Use UTM codes, Google Analytics, and conversion tracking. This is where PPC shines.

PPC is like hiring a cab to take you straight to your destination. SEO is learning to ride a bike; it takes time, but eventually, you own the road.

I'd have to say that for a beginner PPC is like hiring a cab and hoping you get to your destination and even if you don't you still have to pay the driver.
Best to watch a class at first and learn basic keyword tactics so you can tell the cabbie exactly where you are going!
