Saleem Our Yellow Lab Passed 10 November 2013
We have finally lost our much loved and dear companion Saleem our Yellow Labrador who died at 3.30am on the morning of 10 November 2013 at the age of 13 years and 10 months. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry, I know how much your labs mean to you, and I know personally how awful it is to lose a much beloved part of the family. 13 yrs, 10 mos is a lot of years, so he lived a good long life, not that it makes it any easier to say good bye. I pray that time goes by quickly and the pain is replaced by the wonderful memories you have of him.
Yes he did have a good life, he liked to swim and loved just wandering around taking in all the scents of the deer and other animals that visit our farm. Having the Border Collie cat and 4 horses does help as we are constantly distracted.
He is buried in one of his favourite spots and we covered the grave with Iris bulbs so it wil be pretty in the spring.
You're right about the other animals, just them being around helps. I love what you did to remember him, and as they bloom, it will almost be like his spirit is coming to say hi. Sounds kind of hokey, huh? But you never know.
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. I have lost several of my furry family members over the years. I have a friend who just lost his dog of 16 years and he is still having a tough time. Saleem is running with all the other puppies and kitties now.
It was not totally unexpected as he had been gradually deteriorating for the whole of the last year. However he always rallied until this last time, he was glad to be alive and always loved his walkies.

Goodness 6 times is getting up there. We have lost a horse and now the dog, had a couple of close calls too. We have 4 horses a Border Collie and a cat still. Hopefully it will now be awhile before we lose another.
They are and the Boarder Collie sulked for the whole of this past week. He is just beginning to be himself again.
I am sorry to hear that, you will miss him a lot. may your heartsore get bearable soon.

We buried him at one of his favourite spots where he used to sit and admire "his" property!
Fortunately we also have a Boarder Collie a cat and 4 horses so we still have plenty of distractions.
Having other pets around can ease some of the pain, but unfortunately, not all. That's the sad part. It will take time to heal.
Aww, I'm so sorry. It's heartbreaking when you lose a loved companion. They are family I don't care what anyone says. I don't know the circumstances, but yes he is at peace now.
He was just getting old and had started to have problems with his breathing. I think he had a heart attack that morning.
I am so sorry to hear this. These loyal creatures are beloved "family members" period. I know how much it hurts to lose your beautiful friend. I strongly believe that "we" will be reunited with them again someday and forever.

How sad it can be and how lucky was he to be loved, cherished and cared for.
I hope you give another little fella the same oportunity when the time is right.
I've lived with and lost many a doggy companion. Couldn't imagine life without one.
I've got three at present. Condolences to you.
We will not be getting another Lab as we have a Border Collie, 4 horses and a cat that just dropped by about 18 months ago as an 8 week old kitten and who just decided he liked it and stayed. He is still a bit wild though! LOL
