A din, racket, hullabaloo, hubbub, clamor or anything that redirects your attention. It can be little spikes in an electrical signal. It can be in politics, science or anything where focus is needed.

I had a boss who said noise was anything that distracts you from what you should be doing. Or what you need to do. It can really hurt you.

Sometimes a white noise is used to drown out the noise of the “real” world so we can get some work done. Some people or even companies will play soft music to help cover up the outside distractions. This can be good or bad because even soft music disturbs some people.

You have spent all sorts of time developing something and just about have it ready to write out. Someone comes along and just asks you something innocuous like what you are having to eat later. Here the poor person is absolutely unaware of the hornets nest they have disturbed by destroying your line of thought.

Good motivation is a way to move you along. The enthusiasm generated can help you move through the noisy distractions of life to a goal. Nothing is really perfect, of course. It can help you keep on course and get back on course when you do get knocked off the tracks.

We have all probably dealt with people who are antisocial or so focused that they are living in what seems to be their own world. I do not think any of us wants to be this much separated from the real world.

Actually physically writing out your daily plans for posts and reviews is a great way to keep yourself on track. There is a need to keep from going off on tangents and losing sight of the goal if we do not watch ourselves. That noise of the real world is very distracting and we need some way to pull ourselves back.

Be good at your work. Be happy in your work. Remember to eat and sleep properly. And - always keep your goal in mind.
