Best method for Canadians to receive US affiliate payouts

Hello, it's me again...always of questioning mind, never of questionable character -LOL.

I guess I'm leaning on some of my more experienced Canadian WA friends again, to help sort out the all-important affiliate payout question!

That would be US affiliate networks... and private affiliate programs, remitting payment to Canadian affiliate marketers.

The choice we have in most cases, is:

  • Check
  • Paypal
  • Direct deposit into our bank account

With checks, I guess there may be a service fee.

Also the processing will take a few extra business days.

With Paypal, our own WA friend, Kasotty has found a possible workaround for us, to beat the US-Canada exchange rate.

With direct deposit, I see that many (all?) US companies will not do that outside the US.

Plus, I'm a bit leery of giving out my banking information...

So if anyone can please share their experience with this...I believe some folks north of the border will feel quite grateful!:)

My BEST to everyone!

Terry

Good topic Terry and good comments.
Marty

Thanks, yes, Marty...we're gathering the goods!:)

¨With Paypal, our own WA friend, Kasotty has found a possible workaround for us, to beat the US-Canada exchange rate.¨ What is the possible workaround? I suppose it would work for US-Euro exchange as well.

Hi Tessa;

If you look up Kasotty's (Zarina's) training, it is actually specifically what Canadians can do. Why not get a WA Question going about Euro workarounds?;)

Best:)

PayPal iss accepted in most countries and has become a universal standard...

I hear you, Michael...thanks for the word:)

Thank you terry. BTW I didn't register before that you are a Canadian. You have the carefree smiling face that Jay has. Do you live anywhere near BC?

Hahaha...behind that grinning puss is a swirling torrent o' turmoil, wrapped up in a bundle of nerves - LOL!
Thanks for your nice observation, Michael; I mean it:)
I'm across Canada, more towards the east, in southeastern Ontario.
Not as far east as you...but just a skip and a hop, eh!

Near where that cold wind blows off that dagger of Hudson's bay pointed right toward hour area. No smiles there. lol (anyway)

Hey - that's pretty poetic! I actually prefer those conditions, Mike; that'll actually keep me smilin'...I'm coming down there -lol...

Great. The winds often blow on down southeasterly to my mid Atlantic region.

Haha...you never know what's gonna blow in...I predict that BOTH of our ships will come in!:)

It's me again, Terry. For me the best way is to go with PayPal. It's straight forward and easy compared to all the others.

You...YOU! hahaha...
You know we're glad you're here, Ian:)
Thanks...I'm thinking Paypal too.
Sometimes we are just going to have to receive a check though, I think in Amazon's case.

In that case, do like I do. Open an American Currency Account at your bank, then have all foreign deposits (US or otherwise) placed there. That way you can keep your Canadian funds untouched by the other currencies.
This has the effect of you being able to accurately sort the taxes out on the foreign funds.
BTW, Terry. How did it go with the GST number? Your first quarter ends on June 30th. You can file for the previous time period (Quarter) on July 1st, and receive the rebate before the end of July.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes!)
I'd better PM you, so I don't flaunt my ignorance more than per usual;)

LOL!!!

Loy from Toronto here, can you send me that information too please? I'm getting ready to let my magic work on my affiliate sites and might as well start right so we don't have the CRA on our backs after all the hard work is done;) @terrberr @bigbroian

Thank you for starting this discussion, Terry, these are things I've been wondering about.....

Haha...you're welcome, sister, and no worries:)

Oh David...thanks for popping 'round; it is good to see you! I appreciate your thought, but for me, I need the path of least resistance, no-brainer way to go. Since it seems that every company is set up for Paypal...;)
I need to be clear that I'm strictly affiliate marketing. When the private affiliate program I approached gave me their options on the list I have to fill out, it was:

Check
Paypal
Direct deposit

You are so nice to show me another thing, my friend. But I am generally pretty stunned about these things -LOL- so I think I need to stick to the usual ways and means;)
Thanks again!

Have you had a look at Skrill.... it is similar to PayPal in some respects. I've used to pay merchants in the USA and it could be possible for you to enable transfers from American sources through them to a separate dedicated deposit account in Canada.
