Wealthy Affiliate came highly recommended from a friend at a time when I was considering work from home possibilities. Recent changes at work has made this ... shall we say ... a top priority. We've all been there, that 8 to 5 grind where you can only think about all the things you could be doing if you weren't stuck in a cubicle for 8 hours. That's me. So here I am ready to reinvent myself.

The website I've created is this: https://caregiver-selfcare.com/

That's a wonderful post. And so encouraging. It's what I needed today. Thank you, my friend.

We camped over the weekend again and likely will into October. Then I get my weekends at home.

I'm doing pretty well today. Being pretty regimental about the yoga and meditation time in the morning to get my worries under control. Have not found work yet, but still looking.

How about you? Doing ok?

Rejected on both bank jobs, but no worries. God has encouraged me to keep applying...one will open up where I'm meant to be. Applied Monday at St Mary's as a patient services rep. Still no word from Valley Vision yet. Will be applying also at Walla Walla clinic as a pediatric receptionist. Just knocking them off one by one.

I do need to try to get more of my posts added and check into applying to some affiliates. I've been reading about ppls Amazon rejections and wondering how I'll do. If you don't have sales in 180 days, you're dropped. That could be very frustrating after adding links to all your pages...so not sure. I need to get set up on google analytics so I can tell how I'm doing.

Yeah Rob was very encouraging to me too...so I passed it along to my ppls!

Hope you can keep hanging on. YES!! Self care!! I need to do it too, now that a chapter of my life is coming to an end. :(

My pleasure Terri...always :)

Yeah...me too. Learning to have a lot of patience and calmness in the midst of the storm. Awkward living together still at times, but hoping to have my own life back soon. Joined a Ladies Bible study from Church and getting together with friends here and there seems to be helping.

How's it going on your end? Hugs to you too!

PS: Need send your site to my aunt, who has been taking care of my grandparents for the past several weeks under pretty stressful circumstances, thanks for the resource! :-)

You are quite welcome. It's for people like your aunt, that my site was created. I sure understand how difficult it is to take care of yourself when you have so much on your plate. It can get extremely stressful. Even before my husband went into the hospital, I raised 4 kids pretty much by myself and now I have a husband and step son, both on the Autism spectrum, which is a whole different type of care giving experience for me. So my site also is there as a constant reminder to myself that I need to take care of me.

I hope you maintain the momentum and check in here often. Blessings to you as you forge ahead.

Teresa, I went to your page Spiritual self-help.
I really thought what would be a good comment so it took some time to write.
Then I clicked on post the comment but it was denied for that page. I tried again but was told I try to submit too fast. I waited for some and again got that reply so now I gave up, so sorry.

Good evening Teresa,

Well, I got out of the cubicle in 1986 but then I really started working on my old farm. I used to be a tourist guide for a German com. so I was not sitting really in an office, still.
I always tell new people I meet here in case you need a good source for writing do have a look at my WA post on the Spanish priest and the world library, amazing things can be found there.

Hello Teresa,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for adding me to your network.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I made an addition for After The Walkthrough. Also a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link right under “Follow me on” (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message or leave a comment on my profile.
Success building your business in 2017. See you around, Greetings Loes

Hello Teresa,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate. I know you've been here for a while.

I am on the same page with you about recent changes at work making this a top priority. My husband's job is the one that got me to start thinking outside the box in the first place.

How is your journey of self-reinvention coming? I hope you're a few steps closer to getting out of your cubical prison.

Thanks for following me. I look forward to following you now, too.

Thank you. I've been enjoying the journey of reinventing myself. Actually, it's a rather slow and gentle mind shift, but I'm seeing progress in how I view myself. The more I think about myself as being an work at home entrepreneur, the more it feels real.

I'm working through the second course and hope to have that completed in the next week or week and a half, because I want to begin the third one before the end of this month.

So, is this working for you? Are you able to stay at home and make a living?

I really want to be connected with people who are making this work for them. I think the encouragement and the connections are so critical and this feels like the right place for that. The support here is incredible. Good community to be part of.

In my life, I find that gradual changes work best and are more likely to become part of who I am.

As for me making a living, I don't make as much as my husband, yet. I do have a cousin who makes more than her husband who has a job that pays well and requires a Master's degree.

Part of the reason my success is delayed is I didn't keep working at it diligently for the last 4 years. I decided to do something each day to make my sites better. So far, it is working. I am making money into the hundreds each month. Now to go for the thousands.

I'm sure it's encouraging to make some money, though, even if it isn't where you'd like it to be. Hopefully you really enjoy what you are working on. And, I hope you can reach that next milestone of getting into the thousands.

I think the gradual changes are definitely better. They are easier to work into the routines and they give you time to assimilate into your life.

Thanks for your FOLLOW. I appreciate the support & encouragement. I joined WA last week ... and you have the dubious honour of becoming my 50th follower! Thanks!
Having been here longer how have things gone? Successfully I hope. Me? Am really stuck in this website creation / building stuff! I dunno if I'll ever figure it out. Perhaps I should just outsource it to capable WA friends; pay 'em and concentrate on writing content and building traffic! After all TIME is such a precious resource and wouldn't one be better focusing on what one things they can do - and outsource what they can't to those whom can!
Kind regards

I am honored to be your 50th. And, I'm not sure I've been here much longer than you, but I've enjoyed what I've learned. I think learning the basics about building a website is a good thing whether you continue to do it or not. One thing it does for me is help me to see the workings of the entire process. I need the big picture to know how things work together. Have you working through any of the certification courses? I've found them to be super easy to follow and very helpful. The more I progress through the courses, the more this whole process makes sense to me. I'd encourage you to at least try getting through the certification process before making a decision about outsourcing. I've found that people here are extremely helpful in helping you understand how things work when you can't figure it out on your own.

I have managed to create the website. Did the Updates. Pointed the nameservers to my domain on GoDaddy. All that slowly but OK!
Now on the creating stage but can't upload images. Also lost on how to format title & sub title text. So bit stuck to be honest.

Hi Richard,
Interjecting here...you upload your images in the media section and then you can add them to your pages/posts. You can also even crop them there and add descriptions to them also.

Does this help?

The training shows you how to do EVERYTHING!! Don't skip or jump ahead. It's all there, laid out as it should be. Each lesson in the training builds on the previous lesson. Keep moving forward.

Welcome and blessings for your journey here on WA and beyond!

I've been off line for almost a week. We took a vacation to Michigan and there was no wifi and barely a signal for the cell phone at our campground, so I haven't been able to do as much the past week as I would have liked. However, I had some down time at work today and wrote another blog post. A little further behind than I'd like to be, but I'll get there.

Did you go back to your early posts and fix them as you learned new things or just move forward?
Reply
LadybugLove Premium
aha...nice to have a bit of vacation, eh? I worked through the 4th of July, as my marriage is nearly non-existent. Tom goes to celebrate with his family and I'm alone, but had more time to work on this.

Actually I have to go back and take the date stamp off my pics I'm posting to my blog, but that's about it. But, yes you can go back and revise them if you want. It is important moving forward, because of all the new things you'll be learning...and people can potentially be finding your posts 3 even 4 years after you write them, so You will want them to be your best work. But changing them is up to you. You don't have to.

A lot of good content I've found ends up being from 2012 or 2014. But you can move forward too..it's totally up to you.

The nice thing about building your own business is that you're the boss and get to decide just how you wanna plot your course. No one to ask permission for a day off, no set schedules to worry about. Only the ones you set for yourself. Now that's a job worth having in my book!! PURE FREEDOM!!

No pressure ...just checking in...

:)

I like the sound of that and I think I really need it. I'm about to lose my day job at the end of September. The company lost the state contract that keeps them afloat, so that's our last working day. It's not probably enough time to get a full time income from this, but if it could bring in a part time income, I could work another job part time until I can get this one up to speed. I have changed a couple of earlier posts/pages, but I think I'll focus on moving forward as much as possible. I really need to work harder on the mind map thingy. I need a plan for this site so I'm not all over the place. Right now I feel like I'm floundering without a direction and I really need a direction for the website. I think I will try to work on that this weekend.

Did you buy the Jaaxy premium membership? I'm thinking that might be worth the investment. Can't make money without spending a little I guess.

Also, remind me how you got people to take a look at WA. I need to do that as well. I think I've asked this before, but I'm feeling a bit discombobulated about this process.
Reply
LadybugLove Premium
No I didn't get Jaaxy..for now I got some great advice from Robert...see this I think Jaxxy is nice and maybe at some point I'll get it, but for now this works.

I left you a long pm...I hope it is helpful.

Where are you in the training Terri? Let me know if you want me to take another peek at your website.

Hugs for the journey Darlin!

I'm in course 2, lesson 6. I get stuck on the pictures. I am not able to download pictures on the state computer at work, so I write the blog, then I have to try to find time at home in the evening to find and upload pictures. Not the best arrangement, but it's what I have to work with. I'm working on commenting on other people's sites, then I'll ask for comments on mine.

You are always welcome to take a look at my site and give me your thoughts. I'm happy to take feedback anytime. I've tried out the keyword tool and I kind of like it, but I think the link you sent will help me understand it better. Thanks for that. How do you find these trainings? You seem to just pop them out of thin air. :)

I tried to answer you last night and just when I had my message ready to send to you, my internet went out!!! GRRR!!!! Don't ya just love technology? Soo...I will attempt to reconstruct my last night's mail to you. Here goes...

Didn't you know I am Bewitched? All I gotta do is wriggle my nose and VOILA!! The post is before me!! LOL JK!! No...actually I just post a question on my profile page and I get ppl in my network or anybody who sees it in the WA feed and they come to your aid. I might get 5 to 10 answers and I use the one that makes the most sense to me, but I thank everyone for reaching out to me. Cool, huh? WA is set up as a 'PAY IT FORWARD' platform and Kyle and Carson not only uphold this themselves, but encourage all of us to join in too. That's what the Ambassador program is all about. I'm ranking at 192 now, but have been in the 100s before. I just need to get things going on my own business first, before I go back to helping ppl on here.

boomerpg08 (Robert) is amazing with his training on the WA keyword tool. I use it all the time now and it works just as well for finding keywords as Jaaxy, just without the bells and whistles. But the WA keyword tool is included free in your membership, so why not use it?

Yeah..i have another problem here. Lighting...I live in a 1900's house with not good lighting so I have to go out on the patio or position my Ott light lamp over what I'm taking a pic of ...and if that's not bad enough, my camera has a broken battery door, so I have to fiddle with it to make it work, for now. Can't afford a smart phone (mine is a prehistoric flip phone, go figure!) or a new camera. So we just make due...but YES I do all my own pics, so no trouble with contracts or royalties. I just have to crop out my date stamp cuz I like to know when I took them.

There is always and probably will continue to be things standing in our way...just have to keep pressing on, knowing that in the long run, it will all work out for the best. And then we'll be able to encourage others against the same problems as they arise for them too.

If you leave a comment on my new post...I will do the same for you, just leave me your post link.

Here's my new post...(plz leave me a comment and I will on yours too)

Now it's back to work for me...I've got to get our quarterly short story contest up for BJC today, add our Friday Hiatus post, and question of the day. I'm working 2 jobs for free...ha ha. Looking forward to making money doing it. :)

Camping again this weekend with no signal so I'll try to comment on your post and give you my link when I get back home Sunday night. I need to work on my posts a bit more. No problem Terri...glad to help you! Wow you're clippin right along to have come so far so fast! Good for you!! Have you joined any other caregiver support groups? You might be able to learn from them. Or i'm sure Google and You Tube would be good resources for informative content. I'm constantly researching new information. (Pinterest, You Tube, Other related blogs, and Facebook related groups

My roadblock is balancing between my training, getting 'money making' links on my website and connecting on BJC. I'm getting a lot more interaction on BJC these days..which can be a double edged sword. But I will get there too.

I look forward to seeing your growth here Terri.

Have fun camping...that's the one thing I miss. Enjoy! :)
Reply
TeresaLeith Premium
The balance is difficult, but I think if I sit and work on a plan I can come up with something that works for me. I have been researching online and adding to the mind map the ideas I get from the research. I haven't joined a support group, but that's a really good idea. I'll add that to my list of things to research and work on.
Reply
LadybugLove Premium
Groups really help to cull more ideas and 'legs' you can add to your website. Pinterest and You tube are great for your research too...along with Google.

In future, my plan is to also get into personality typing, love languages, and how to get along with everybody, since relationships are so transient these days. My site will be multi-educational. Lots of problems to work on relating to relationships..romantic and otherwise.

Would be good for you to research maybe other topics that relate to your current niche subject...couldn't hurt.

Did you have fun camping Terri?

I'm glad I finally decided to listen...even tho I'm losing someone in the process. God has given me some great gifts to share with those who have been waiting...and hoping. It is a mission...not just an income.

Someone(s) also NEED what you have to offer...very badly. That's what really DRIVES us. It's a purpose that comes from deep inside.

God bless you as you maneuver thru the waters...

congrats on taking action and joining WA Teresa! my best piece of advise is that you're more likely to succeed if you're working on a niche you're passionate about...

if you aren't passionate about what you're doing, then the likelihood is that you'll have just created another job for yourself which you'll soon be tempted to quit.

wish you all the best!

Yes it does matter...Go through the Green certification first. It's your foundation...and you can go back and check the training whenever you need too also. You will learn soo much.

And when you've finished your Certification (5 courses in all), then you can focus on the Bootcamp! More streams of income there.

Reply

Sure, that is a direction you can head. When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Go here...I think it'll help you organize your thoughts!

Will try to have Monday's topic be about trackers or mind mapping on BJC, so you can check it out. I may even throw in a tracker...we'll see...

I am also busy with Athena on BJC..she has an Etsy shop and creates Junk journals, and we're collaborating on one. It's gonna be AH-MAZING!! I'm adding my needlework treasures to it. We will be showcasing it on BJC when it's finished. She sent it to me to work on, so busy busy busy...but really enjoying it.

Thanks. Not sure the green is exactly what I want, but it's a work in progress. And I will likely play with themes after a bit to. I just wanted to get the first couple posts done on something other than white. I'll check out the link you sent me too.

Something serene might me nice Terri. Yeah..I started with another theme...on of a base of sand dunes, a floating hot air balloon in the sky and a beautiful orange type sunset. It was gorgeous, but the style didn't fit me. :( But I'm soo happy with my lady bug one.

Color definitely makes a difference!

yeah..that link puts things into focus...Great article!

Have fun building! :)

Yeah, for sure. Your site will come together and there is definitely nothing wrong with a site being bare when it starts out, all sites are like this.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll find the pictures and colors that work for me in time. A little color now helps me feel better about it now. And I have a ways to go before too many people see it anyways. :)

My pleasure darlin! Really puts things into perspective for moving forward..at least I think so. ;)

You might wanna add your picture to your 'about' page. Shows ppl they can trust you're a real person with a real true story to share. No rush...just something I observed. :)

Have fun building Terri...hope you like my hiatus post for today on BJC...And that you've had a great Monday!

oh yes. I thought about that while I was writing it and totally forgot about it after I finished it. Thanks for the reminder. I saw your post today, but haven't had the time yet to sit down and look at it. I saved it to read tonight. I love connecting with you on here and on there.

I've added the picture to my profile page. My next step is to ask for feedback. Usually that makes me pretty nervous and uncomfortable, but people here seem so nice and helpful, I think it won't be so bad.

I checked out your updated website Terri! Nice job! Great pic!! It creates a much more personal touch with your audience. It also builds trust for them to see you're a real person with a real story. xx

Be sure to add some pics of interest to your posts as well...ones that relate to what you're writing about. People are very visual and it only adds to the validity of what you're saying...kinda like a back drop. Just something you can consider....

Hope you enjoyed my post on BJC and that you had a good day.

I love connecting both places with you too...always! :)

Love your new theme...seems to suit you and your site. Nice job!

My pleasure...glad I could help.

Yes...we're all one big happy family here...WA is very 'pay it forward' focused. Kyle and Carson have designed it that way. :) I have enjoyed every minute of my time here...and I suspect you will too.

Yeah, don't feel uncomfortable at all asking for help here. You have a very friendly and knowledgeable community here at WA you can lean on if you ever need a hand. :)

I found the way to tag one of the trainings, but when I went to look for it, I realized I had no idea how to find the one I tagged. Can someone help me with this?
