6 months in - and a new strategy

So, I have been with WA for 6 months. Wow, time has flown. In that time, I have launched 2 blogs (complete with FB pages, instagram and twitter accounts) and am building a following in these different but related areas. I have also publlished a book on Amazon related to one of my niches and have sold over 50 copies in just over a month.

On the downside, I have had an Amazon affiliate account closed because of infringement (still not entirely sure what I did wrong) and another closed because of no sales within the alloted time period.

My approach started with following the lessons but then I branched off into my own usual scatter gun approach - some of which hit the target and other which ended up coming back (can bullets do that?) and biting me in the bum (definitely mixed metaphors there)!

So, I had been thinking of writing this blog to share my new strategy when along comes this BADGE and I think, wow ... just what I needed ... some incentive and a new start!

So, my second six months at WA is going to be a whole lot different.

What is my new strategy?

Well, instead of having about a million tabs and programs open on my PC at the same time which just tempted me into deviating from the path, I now just have one webpage open .... MY OWN HOME PAGE.

My main aim at the moment is to write so there are reminder there that this should be my focus. I have links for each day so it is like a schedule ... Check this, do that ... and it ensures that each week I cover the main aspects of what I want to achieve.

So it is Saturday morning at 8:15am (and it is my day off today) and I have already achieved what is on my "to do" list without being distracted to other things on the web.

It is working for me. What is working for you?

Share you strategies for keeping yourself focussed on what needs to be done to move you forward in the direction you need to go. I am sure we could all learn a great deal from each other.

All the best WAers. Here is to the next 6 months.

Much love and happiness

Gillian

Focus is something we all need and any way to accomplish that is what must happen.

True. It doesn't matter how you get there as long as you get there
xx

Well done Gillian
Great news for you and congrats
If your eBooks are selling...I would pursue that line of tact
Heep up the good work
Cheers..PB

Thanks, PB. Much appreciated.

Gilliam you really have achieve a huge amount! Congratulations .. Cheers, William.

Hi William

Thank you. I know I have achieved a great deal but as a single mum with a business to run during the day, it all feels a little frenetic at times. I am hoping that this strategy will help me to focus.

Warmest wishes

Gillian

You are welcome

Its seems like a good strategy.

Thank you. I will let you know if it keeps me on track.

Hi Gillian, a very revealing post. Irv.

Hi Irv

Mmmm ... I am wondering what it reveals about me? You are not a psychologist, are you?

What did you take from it?

Thanks for the comment/

Warmest wishes

Gillian

I think your doing awsome.

Thank you. Much appreciated.

Hello Gillian - fellow 6 monther! I also hit 6 months today. Unfortunately I've to make do with squeezing in whatever time I can grab (and it's never enough) because I have too much work on at the moment. Mornings in the office of our business and evenings teaching, so I'm hoping that in the summer I'll be able to apply some strategy to my WA day and increase my productivity. It sounds like you've done loads in the 6 months. Congratulations! I would be very interested to read a blog about how you published your amazon book if you ever write about it - as that's on my to do list in the future.
All the best of success! Soraya :-)

Hi Soraya

We are very similar ... I run my own furniture business during the day and teach (I used to be an English teacher) in the evenings.

What subjects do you teach?

Warmest wishes

Gillian

Ha! How funny! I teach English as a foreign language. I do love teaching but it means I get home at 9:30 p.m. and by the time I've eaten there isn't time for my website. My goal is to leave the office which is a real estate agency but it's more my husband's thing and not my passion. But....well for now he needs my help so I'm full time with the two jobs. How on earth have you found time to have two niches going and a book published already?? :-)

I don't have a social life :-(

Hahhaha but even so...Congratulations on achieving so much in 6 months! :-)

Go Techie. Multitasking sucks. Be Mindful.
Love, little old American lady in Fife.

Hiya

Would love to meet up with you sometime. Maybe over the summer?

How is WA going for you?

All the best

Gillian

I actually have the perfect advice for you if you want to keep your drive+more. I know about a year ago I started losing focus and putting my obsessions and passions in things other than business. Something that absolutely turned my life around was listening to the book Be Obsessed or Be Average by Grant Cardone. Grant narrates the book himself and is one of the more inspirational and crazy sales people out there but he is widely successful and his points in the book are invaluable and highly motivating. If you want to check out more books that I really attribute to past success. Feel free to check out the blog post I made on books but you absolutely don't need to if you don't want to

Some other advice I always love to share is to remember that we are in the people business not the sales business. If you want the success you crave you need to first sell yourself on the product your selling(or affiliating) You need to believe fully in the product and in yourself otherwise you won't maximize your self potential and potential sales. Maybe this is something you already apply to your business model but a friendly reminders also never hurts. Best of luck :)

I love friendly reminders ... so thank you. You are so right.

I will check out your Blog post too.

Have an awesome day

Warmest wishes

Gillian
