2 Steps To Attaining and Maintaining A Positive Mind

Hello! Today I want to talk about a subject that has been a work in progress and will always be a work in progress for me. Attaining and maintaining a positive mind!

Attainment

How to attain a positive mind? Does this mean we have to always think nice thoughts? Do we have to walk around with a goofy/creepy smile on our face? Believe it or not, that's what I initially thought! Nothing could be farther from the truth. It is true however, that it helps to think positively. It also helps to physically exert positive behaviors, such as, smiling more.

But, in reality, one way to attain a positive mind, is to try thinking of things in a different way. Change your thought process from taking in a negative situation and immediately processing a negative thought, which is of course, followed by a negative physical reaction, to flipping that right around! Try this:

When a negative situation occurs, think about how you WOULD NOT normally react. That sounds like a negative connotation in itself right? But, in reality, we are shifting our angles. When normally we would kick scream and shout, let's smile about it and figure out a solution. Cutting out the kicking, and screaming can lead to less stress, which typically leads to better health mentally and physically.

To attain a positive mind, we just need to decide to TRY NEW THINGS and NEW WAYS OF THINKING! Does it mean we change our belief system? No, it just means that we better enlighten ourselves with other options of handling situations!

PRACTICE: Try this method out for at least 2 weeks. Start with a day, then two in a row, then three and so on. Be AWARE of your thoughts and how you think. Besides, this is your potentially positive mind!!


MAINTAINENCE

Now that we have attained a positive mind through the exercise above, let's figure out how we maintain it! How do we continue to think this way and attempt to never look back? This is a lot simpler than the process above, but still takes a similar amount of effort. All you need to do is COMMIT & DECIDE to maintain. Once you have gone through the process above, you will have the steps needed to maintain the idea of beginning to have a positive mind. There are several other things that must be done to raise your level of positive mind, but this is the greatest leaping point. The decision to attain and maintain is what will allow you to create a fuller life, seeing things for what they are. It will also allow you to see things for what they could be! Imagine looking at a seed, we do not usually see just a seed, but rather, we see what the seed will become! If you just see a seed and come to the conclusion it should and will always be a seed, then we haven't really attained the open mindedness to ask for more of it. Try this:

For the next 2 weeks, reflect and/or write down a time where you took a different route than what you usually would take! Writing this down will better your opportunity to look back at it, while reflecting on it will allow you to internalize your achievement! Remember, take it one day at a time, then two, then three and so on!
