When Things Don't Seem Right - Check It out
I have been blessed to have a website that was producing consistent sales. I said was. It was not earning me a lot of money but it was consistent. At least every 2 or 3 days and many times several days in a row there would be some small sales. Ocasionally there would be some good sales.
All of a sudden the sales stopped. Checked my rankings and they were about the same. Checked my Amazon account and the click throughs were also about the same, but no orders. This went on for at least 2 weeks.
During a chat with Amazon it was discovered that although my links seemed to be working, no orders were being tagged to my account. The service person put through some fake orders to be sure. None of them would tag. What happened?
I don't know but thinking back it seemed to start about the time wordpress 4.0 came out. Nothing seemed to be affected on my sites so I'm not sure that is the answer. I have some other theories but they are just that. I may never know.
The point of this blog is simply when things are not the norm for your site, check everything out. You may be getting sales but not the credit. I am in the process of re-doing all my links in a different way. We shall see.

Wow! Losing money like that ... well ... the good news is that your not one of those people making millions a year as an Amazon affiliate. The bad news is that your not one of those people making millions a year as an Amazon affiliate. (always look on the bright side of life...). God Bless! ~Cathy
Good advice! I don't use a plug-in for Amazon, just the affiliate links they give you on each product. Interesting to know. Thanks, Glenda!
I didn't originally but it was more convenient and made my site look better. Right now I am trying their publisher studio.
They did not suggest a different way just to re-do them. But I was using easy Azon which is a plugin. A lot of plugins were affected with 4.0. That is the reason I am doing it differently. I don't really like the way my site looks now but it will eventually come together. You just have to keep trying different things
Not all of my links were using that plugin. However, I did read something about the Iframes not working right in their blog. I had some of those too.
In what way are you doing your links differently? Did Amazon suggest a new linking technique?
