Understanding the English language

can be a challenge - even when it's your native tongue.

SO many words sounds exactly the same, yet have entirely different meanings. Knowing which one to use in a particular situation can make all the difference as far as presenting credible content.

Relying on Content Editor

I have found that the content editor (ABC icon circled in red) isn't foolproof. While the word can be spelled correctly, it may not be the proper spelling needed for the particular instance, and it can sometimes slip past the correcting tool.

I am now clicking on the ABC editor button not once or twice, but I have it go through my content 3 times before I hit the publish button. Very often, it will find things on the 2nd or 3rd check that weren't found on the 1st one.

Plus - I reread the content over myself before publishing. I don't put 100% trust, and give full authority, to this tool, as good as it is, because previously I have been reading through content that I approved and published on my website that was not grammatically correct.

Reviewing Sites

As I'm utilizing the feedback platform here on WA, and review other's blogs, I come across countless cases of content that fails in the proper English category or they have misspellings.

If the ABC check is being implemented, it's really falling short for catching mistakes. These are mistakes that make reading their content a bit confusing in some cases.

I understand that for many bloggers, English is their 2nd language, and I commend them for taking on the task of blogging in the English arena.

Nobody is perfect, and yet when it comes to selling yourself to a global market, I feel every effort should be made to present your content in a highly readable form, and one that will make 100% sense.

What's the Answer?

Getting to the end of writing a blog can take quite a while, and so once we're there, we just want to get it published and move on.

Yet, that extra effort of thorough editing will pay off.

For those who struggle with English, maybe it would be worthwhile to have someone fluent in English critique/review their blogs before publishing??

My intent here is to bring to light for all of us, that taking a little extra time for checking and rechecking for mistakes before hitting the publish button, can make ALL the difference for quality, authoritative content.

Happy editing to all!
