Day 1 on Wealthy Affiliate
Atrocious experience attempting to watch the first video, “Wealthy Affiliate - A Comprehensive Platform Walk-through”.
I took 1.5 hours to watch the 30 minute video! :=(
I can assure you, that did not make for a happy camper.
For some reason, someone has prevented users from downloading the video
If that is as a security device to prevent piracy, it is very poor, as there are screen capture tools which work just fine, and with a little video editing… well, you can guess the rest.
Anyway, looking around (and being constantly harangued to “go Premium”) my fear is that I’ve fallen into a nest of vipers or a school of sharks.
Ah well, Rule #1 - keep money in pocket no matter the lure of “riches”.

I left 10yrs ago barely got started on my training, went solo out there in the big WWW subscribed to many services, courses, mentors and gained nothing and spent lots - came back here and realised everything I had been looking for was always here - but you must find that out for yourself - just don't waste 10yrs like me - Good luck whatever decision you make!

You can remain here as a free member for as long as you want and I suggest that you continue to take it for a test drive. Yes, you can always go premium but you should really complete the free training first and then decide if this is right for you. Even then you can remain as a free member indefinitely. There's so much free training here! Take your time and good luck with your business. Alanna

I understand you are skeptical. So was I when I first joined. That is only healthy.
But I would suggest you to actually just do the training. You already paid to go premium as far as I can see. Why not take the lessons and see what you can learn before you decide it is not for you.
Then you can see if you find the training valuable or not. I can start explaining how much I have learned, the results I have achieved by following the training here, and all this but I also understand that does not really matter as you do not know me so why should you trust me.
So, therefore, I just suggest you to follow the training and see for yourself if it is for you or not.

Actually, I am working my way through the training, and I've just completed putting up my first website. It looks atrocious right now, but I can see that in the next few lessons, I will be theming it and then I can begin putting content into it, so it's an exciting time!

And yes, the websites can look a bit strange in the beginning:-) Think all of us have tried that:-) But it will all slowly start to come together.

This is a very exciting time! Going back 4 months when I first started my site, I was so thrilled! Then it began to take shape and look like a professional site and I was even more excited!
Now I have over 30 articles indexed and most are ranked on the first page of the big 3, Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
Just stick with the training friend and you will go places!

I have been with WA for 5 years, there is no need to download videos you can access them whenever you want there is also a link that you can share if this is what you are trying to do. It does take a bit of time to get to know your way around, is there something we can help you with ?

No, that particular video was just spinning wheels, so as I mentioned, it took me three times longer to watch it. Yikes.
Anyway, since then, as you rightly point out, it's been okay and I haven't had similar issues.

Nobody's trying to scam you here. You don't even have to pay for anything for the first 10 lessons or your website. That's already a lot more than you'd get anywhere else. Shame you didn't mention that in your post as well.
Just a matter of interest - why were you downloading the video in the first place?

Well, the idea was to download the video and watch it in real time (30 minutes) instead of watching the spinning wheel and spending one and a half hours (which is what I had to do in the end).
I've got some tech skills, so downloading the video whilst attending to other things would be natural for me; it's what I do in similar situations on other sites.

To sell it to someone else or share Kyle and Carson's hard work for free?
I get the feeling you might be in the wrong place - no vipers here, just a bunch of hard working folk who are EXTREMELY happy with what they get for their subscription.
If you have an open mind and any sense we might see you on day 2 then (and you won't even have to spend any money to get to day 2 and beyond) ...

As I was the second person to reply I did not have the benefit of being able to view any responses and had to go on what I thought was a rather negative post - especially coming from someone who had only been here for a day!
So if I got the wrong end of the stick I apologise and am happy that you now seem to be a bit happier.
Hopefully day 2 and beyond will each be better than the previous day

That was my first thought 5 years ago. Why shouldn't Wealthy Affiliate protect something they've created from piracy? If you created something wouldn't you want to protect it? No one is pressuring you to go premium. I didn't for over a month then I saw the value in the training and decided to go for it. I know for me if these guys were just trying g to get my money I would have been gone a long time ago. Best of luck to you in your journey, I hope you find what your looking for. I think you just did but don't know it yet.

I wasn't trying to pirate the video—it isn't necessary to download videos if piracy is the goal—I just wanted to avoid watching the spinning wheel.
My connectivity had nothing to do with it. There was simply a bottleneck some in the system which prevented that particular video from downloading properly. I haven't had any issues with any other video since, fortunately.

If you are getting a spinning wheel I think the connection has everything to do with it.
