I've never really put together an email newsletter before and would like to start learning the proper way is there a tutorial or maybe a newsletter template anyone could link me

As leoemery states below, choose an auto-responder, look at how it works, and in all likelihood, they will have hundreds of email templates available for you to choose from.
Most of the auto-responders will have some form of training to help get you on your way...
Have you picked an auto-responder service to capture peoples email addresses so you can then deliver your newsletter to your subscribers?
If not I use Aweber as my auto-responder and they have hundreds of templates to choose from - plus you have the option of creating your own if you like.
There are many services to choose from besides Aweber - such as Get Response, icontact, MailChimp and Constant Contact just to name some.
Simply find one that has what you want for functions (most are the same with slight differences) and you're comfortable with the monthly or the yearly fee to have the service.

I use Aweber as well. They actually called me a few days after I joined just to make sure I was doing okay with their service. Love it!
