To Scotland and Back
After a busy two weeks in Scotland I have more ideas than ever and still no time to write. Scotland is amazing and the people and their history are even more enchanting and worthy of respect. I hadn't realized how much Canada is Scottish until I spent time wandering amongst the Scots.
The history of what Scotland has been through in the past 1000 years would have ruined a lesser people. Yet Scotland remains entirely its own entity. There are many lessons we can learn from their history. We are so spoiled and soft in our day to day lives. Often I fall into a thought pattern of feeling deprived, neglected, and depressed. Walking the fields of Culloden made me wake up and see that I am acting ungrateful and spoiled. They fought desperately hard simply for the freedom of religion while I get mad and give up if the Timmies line up is too long.
I wonder what they would think of us if they could see us now. Confused, amazed, and probably a little disappointed that their churches now house bars and casinos. We do have the freedom they fought for in so many bloody battles.
Let them rest now. It's time to find a way to improve the time we live in now.
