Isomorphic Metaphors - why I love them so much?

An Isomorphic metaphor is a story that your audience can relate to. If your audience can connect with the story through most or all their senses or if you can take them back to a certain place and time in their life, then you have certainly captured their attention.

I love stories!

Do you love stories...?

You know those stories that make you feel as if you were playing one or all the characters in the story...? Boy! I sure enjoy those.

We all have a story and every story ever told is the story of our lives told from a different angle. A great storyteller can draw a large audience into his story and yet evoke different emotions from them and then guide them to where they are ready to be without even ever talking about their individual dreams, wishes or aspirations...

Such a storyteller I aspire to be....

Can you imagine what impact being such a phenomenal storyteller could have on a blog post?

Why are stories so Powerful?

I guess stories get the mind engaged, they are like tilling the ground in preparation for the seed sowing. Since our interpretation of stories is always subjective, we get a very personalised view of what is being told [the seed] and the outcome is also personalised even through the ground [mind] and the tool [story] is the same.

Thanks for your comment Alister! I appreciate you.

Great post Kimberleigh, I did not know that a story that is created that people can relate to is an Isometric Metaphor.
Thanks
Ray

It's an Isomorphic Metaphor - Iso =>, identical, similar - Morphē => shape, form

Isometric - Iso => identical, similar - Metron (metric) => measure,

Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for pegging the name for me Kimberleigh. I actually do this one of my sites. I write about providing solutions for people, either products or services, be engaging in one of my work or personal life scenarios. I can tell how I encountered a situation, what was causing the problem, the frustration of not having a tool or help alleviate the problem, ways we tried to arrive at a solution and finally what we did (and now offer) as a solution to their similar problem. In this they can definitely relate to the scenario, even if it is slightly different, the feelings experienced, the suffering of not being able to achieve a desired result and then finally finding someone (me) or something (my product or service) that could finally solve their problem. I tend to do this through story mode so they can relate to the entire situation and how we arrived at the solution(s)

Now I just need to remember it is called using Isomorphic Metaphors.

Thank you for the post!

I'm glad that you like my post and found it useful Fabulous Frank!
