My dream for 2019

Just thinking this morning about what I would like to achieve this year of 2019.

Most of the work I do is in South Nyanza in Kenya where we are establishing schools in remote villages.

At this time the children's classrooms are made of wood or mud with a tin roof, with a dirt or mud floor and open windows.

Sometimes they have wooden desks but often they sit on cane mats on the floor.

Many of the children in these remote villages have no opportunity to attend school because of lack of funds, the distance to the nearest school often is too far for young children to walk.

Often the people in these remote villages don't understand the importance of education for their children because they didn't have any schooling themselves.

When I was in Kenya in 2010 I lived among the people in one of these villages, called Bunche Village for a year. I lived in a primitive mud hut just as they did and had a hole in the ground with some tin sheets around it to use for a toilet.

My bathing was done with a bowl of water which had to be carried on the heads of one of my girls from a well 15 minutes walk away.

While I was there we managed to raise finances to buy some land and build a church building which was also used as a school for 4 to 10 year old children.

We had around 60 children and three teachers who were paid volunteers who lived in neibouring villages.

The school had to close down after I left because of lack of funding and so there has been no school there for a few years now.

Our first school in Bunche Village Kenya

We are planning to open the school again this month of January using the church building again.

My dream is to build a permanent brick school there to accommodate 200 children from the many villages in the area.

We have had some very encouraging reports about the children who attended the Bunche school in 2010, The children are now in High School and are very high achievers, many are the top of their class.

There is also another school we have established in a village called Rabango.

There they have almost 200 students with 6 teachers who are also using tin sheds for their classrooms. My dream is also to build a permanent brick school there too and a home for the teachers to stay in.

If you would like to be part of this dream and would like to help in any way please send me a private message.

I have written my autobiography to tell of my amazing adventures as a missionary titled 'One Life' The Narrow Path. Soon to be available on Amazon.

If you would like to read my book for free and write a short review I will email it to you.

Bless you Sylvia for the beautiful work you do to provide a brighter future for these children. This brought tears to my eyes.
I would love to read more about your achievements, but if the income from book sales help fund your school then I would prefer to purchase it on Amazon.
Continued Blessings for 2019!
