If one of my posts is indexed in google, and I decided to add a product link to it with some explanation, does this affect it in google? And does the post date change from the

Interesting question Sylvia and great answers from WA members as always.

Great question and great answer

I've read that making updates to your existing article is a good thing,
and when you do, revise your date as well.

Supposedly, it alerts Google that you have new content.

Hi Sylvia, looks like Abie has you covered.

Best wishes,
Michael

No it doesn't and the date remains same as and when it was originally published.

Thanks. That sounds good.

Best wishes,
Sylvia

Can I buy a domain name here on WA and pay for it if I'm not a Premium member yet?

Sylvia, if you have created a WA siterubix website already then you could take a one month's premium membership. While you're a one-month premium member you could buy your WA website, switch your siterubix to it then when you leave the following month you can go to that other hosting site. While you take that one-month premium membership you will benefit yourself with the wonderful lessons WA offers and perhaps change your mind to remain as a permanent WA member. I see this as a win-win situation, why don't you give it a try and see how it turns out it a month, you will learn more about websites here than anywhere in the world.

Joe

You can’t buy it through wa without being premium

Not quite true, anyone can purchase domain names through WA, you just can't host your website on it here at WA unless you are a Premium Member.

I.e. as a Starter Member you can purchase a domain name and then change the Nameservers to point to 3rd Party Web Hosting.

Good question and some great answers!

Jeff

Buy at Namecheap, they are a great house, I have 6 years' experience with them.

If I do this, can I replace siterubix with the domain I get from Namecheap? I heard I can only redirect the new domain to my free website. But I don't understand how this works. Do you have an idea?

Once you go Premium here at WA, then you can point the Nameservers from the 3rd party Registrar, such as Namecheap to WA, and then you will be able to "Move" your website from the free SiteRubix subdomain to your newly purchased domain name.

Other than About and Privacy Policy, what pages should I add?

Great question and great answers

Affiliate disclosure, but that’s for much later

Hi Sylvia, I have a privacy policy, an affiliate disclosure, an about me page, a GDPR rules page and because my website is in the health niche I have a medical disclaimer.
The about me is to establish a connection with your audience, the GDPR is to prevent data breaches, phishing and other forms of malicious online activity( customer protection similar to privacy policy), the affiliate disclosure on your website is an essential part of building trust and being an honest business ( needed if you are selling items) and the medical disclosure to protect myself as I am not a doctor, and the information on my site is through research I have done. Hopefull it protects me from getting sued. There are templates in the site content area for these.

Best wishes,
Michael

Thanks, that's very helpful. Can you please share the link to your website so I can see your GDPR rules page? It sounds interesting.

Hi Sylvia, there is a plugin for the GDPR rules. I just did not want to add to my plugins. I researched the policy and I will send you a PM. You can alter it any way you want as long as the rules stay intact.

Best wishes,
Michael

Hi Sylvia, sorry seems I can not private message you. I can not display my URL here. Something about WA policy.
Perhaps in live chat.

Michael

Bummer!

Do you think I can just google it?

Hi Sylvia, that is pretty much how I did it. Make sure you don't pay for anything. Also if you are not selling merchandise to different countries you do not have to have this policy in place.
The GDPR is a set of EU laws that come into affect on May 25th 2018. The purpose of the GDPR is to provide a set of standardised data protection laws across all the member countries.
Sylvia, I really do not think you should worry about this policy at this time. Once you start building traffic and selling product to countries in the European Union is when it comes into play.

Affiliate disclosure if you are promoting affiliate products like Amazon.

And depending your niche in some cases a medical disclaimer.

My niche is English Learning. Does it need a medical disclaimer?

No, you're okay. For future reference if needed

Review this link:

Thanks a bunch. I'll check this

Not unless you plan to offer advice on health

You need an affiliate disclosure

What's that?

Same as above message.
