My Own Messenger Business
I am happy with my progress so far, almost 4 years ago now I started off as a Postmates courier after quitting my IT career. At first IT was okay, not great but I looked forward to advancing in the field. Then I realized okay, it's not IT that I am unhappy about. I love technology, businesses rely on it, and even now my online work does consist of some IT work. I realized I was just unhappy with living life as an employee. Employees have a very limited life and even if you study a subject you enjoy, once you get into the workforce you won't exactly be doing the things you love in your profession. I enjoyed learning about IT in school, I got to mess with components, some programming languages and networking projects. I did what I wanted, but once I started working in the field, all those project and games came to an end. I had to do what my boss, or the company needed me to do, not what I was interested in playing with. That's where it all changed, it was no longer about hanging out in my room curious about how to crash a website for example haha, or how to bruteforce a password. Yes some work did involved security but it was different. I hated it, I hated that I couldn't play just work and sit at a cubicle and respond to tickets and work on boring projects such as PC refreshes, hardware upgrades, new blade installations, software testing, locking and unlocking of network ports. Anyway 4 years later here I am working on 2 affiliate marketing websites, started my own bike messenger business, and I am scheduled for a 3 day, 9 hour, real estate investing course in July. When I started working using the Postmates courier platform the only thing I knew then was that I could work on my own schedule, postmates couriers are not employees but contractors, same goes for Uber and all these other platforms so the thought of me being independant got my attention. I never thought I would grow passionate about delivering items to people but that is exactly what happened. I've been through many obstacles, and one of my biggest obstacles was last spring, April 2018. I fractured my spine due to a cycling accident. I was supposed to have my first boxing match a few months later too in September. The pain was intense, I not only fractured my back, I also fractured 3 ribs, and had a collapsed lung and a gash on my cheek. I was so determined to get back on my feet, I did what most thought would be impossible. I am back, stronger, happier, and more determined than ever and now I have my own bike messenger business, which will evolve into something much more than that, my business is unique because the courier part is just extra, my main business is affiliate marketing and soon a messenger fashion line. I do have very busy days, and have moments where I do get distracted which is something that I want to improve, other than that I am proud of myself, I am passionate about businesss, I love what I do and really fell in love with the bike messenger culture. I guess that's my story for today, best wishes to you all =) Later dudes!
