You Have To Weather the Downturns In This Business and Look Up

Hi everyone,

I was worried about Google traffic again last week (after the last update destroyed my traffic for awhile). It came back up again. Now I see some of my posts are falling in rank on Google. There is always a change around the corner in this business. You go way up (like I did last year) and then come crashing down and have to rebuild. It may seem like things are hopeless and you may wonder if you should give it up when you are at the bottom but things will go back up.

You have to be able to weather all the downturns and look to the future. Google goes up. Google goes down. Affiliates may make you great money for a time (like I was making at Amazon) then shut you down or you lose your traction for one of many potential reasons. Maybe the product you promote goes out of business and is no longer available or your affiliate stops carrying it. Your links could go bad any day. You have to stay on top of them.

Maybe your affiliate lowers it's commissions (like Amazon and many other have in the last year).

There are so many potential bumps in road to success.

So how can you stay positive with so many pitfall and discouragements?

As long as you keep moving forward and learning you will be in a better and better position regardless of the changes along the way.

If you are learning you are moving forward and will be able to shift and adjust more quickly with every setback. You are building experience, content, ranking, site authority, gaining ideas for new niches, new sites and new business models. You are making contacts and gaining a reputation. You may be gaining customers, associates and partners who can help you.

You are gaining traction even if it feels like you are spinning your wheels! You may lose a little ground in the short term but you will be able to go forward further in the long run.

The hardest part is continuing to move forward when the path seems dark and discouraging. That is what makes the difference between those who fail (give up) and those who succeed. If you keep walking through the dark you will be closer to your goal when it gets light again.

I have to keep reminding myself of that but I know it is true.

I have had a rough few weeks at my regular job but I know someday my websites will make enough to help me quit the job and be my own boss.
