Hi Guys, I am an affiliate marketer with a skin care niche. I have no store and no products of my own. I have searched for a generic theme for my site but cannot find any. I

This may help from Shopify! https://themes.shopify.com/websites/skin-care

Thank you, I will have a look. :)

Hello, when I clicked on this link they wanted me to set up a store. Is that what I'm supposed to do in order to find a theme?

That's necessary for your business. You need then to find a theme that fits. Try Woo Commerce as a plugin!

Ah I see, thank you. I will try the Woo Commerce plugin.

If you want to create a store, look for a theme that is woocommerce compatible. There are a lot free themes in wordpress repository that has that feature. When searching for such a theme, use the filter and choose woocommerce which will give you results of all themes that are compatible with woocommerce plugin. (You need to install the woocommerce plugin so that the store looks good).

Here's something that might help you a bit. Let me know if there's more I can assist you with.

:)
Joe

Thanks Joe, I will see if there is anyyhing suitable :)

If you can, but that's not the solution, it's bad looking for a matching image

Not sure what you mean? I'm just looking for a good theme for my niche. I need a theme that indicates my website is about skin care.

Sorry ... We did not understand

Hi Sue, I hope you can solve the traffic issue. It sounds like you are really busy with other commitments, which is a problem I know only too well. Maybe more comments from members here to start? And more social media posts? Best Alan

Hi Alan, by social media did you mean promote my website via my Facebook page? I will try to ask my question in getting started too and see what others have come up against re traffic.

Hi Suzy, I mean posting your website on Google +, and engaging on FB, and Instagram or Twitter or both, also Pinterest, as per the training. Also getting comments from WA members may help. If you PM me your URL´s I will be glad to add a comment or two, Best Alan

Ah I see. I haven't used Google + since I did the training so I will have to go back to it. I will PM you with my URL . Thank you so much Alan!

Hi Sue,

It can definitely be frustrating. But it can take time to build traffic, so it depends a lot on what you mean about having it for a while, and how much content you have on it.

Have you taken all the levels in the certification course? Because that is the foundation for getting the traffic coming.

Mikael

I built my website last July. I've been adding posts ever since and probably have about 10 or so now, so quite a bit of content and also have a Home page and About Me page in which I've tried to be "real" and engaging.

I have taken all but the last 2 courses. I went through the one about getting traffic to your site but it hasn't seemed to work for me!

Hi Sue,

if you mean you have around 10 posts in total this is not enough to get any real traffic unless there is no competition at all in your niche. At least one new post per week would be ideal, and when you have time preferably more than 1.

The best advice is to follow the certification course step by step and take action on everything that is taught there. And do not try to skip ahead. It has a great structure that will help you to built traffic. And then keep implementing what you learn there and keep writing keyword rich content.

Here is a link to the certification course just so we are sure we talk about the same thing: Hope this gives you a better idea and let me know if you have any more questions.

Mikael

Thank you for your help and advice Mikael. I will go through what I havent done and back over the parts I havent.

Unfortunately I work 6 days a week and dont have the time to write 1 post per week - it took me 3 weeks to write my last post. I've been doing a personal development course too so my time has been very limited.

yes finding the time is challenging for many of us. But as with any other business it is necessary to put in time to make it grow.

Just write as often as you can. And I can tell you from experience that the more you write, the easier it becomes and the faster you can write an article.

wish you all the best, and hope the traffic will soon grow

Thank you, yes it has become a lot easier over time to write. Cross fingers. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Need the job to pay the bills, but am not able to put the time into what I really want to do! Never mind, I will get there. :)

Think many of us know how that feels:-) But wish you all the best

There is absolutely no point in monetizing a site until you have traffic

Hi Kat, not quite sure what you mean? I thought I should build my site and have some products to advertise. I have a skin care website and talk about peptides, serums, moisturisers etc. so the wouldn't the reader need to see some products and want to try them?

It sounds like your site's SSL certificate is either not activated, or it has expired.
Does the green padlock show, at the top (on the left), where your site's URL is?

Hey James, I'm not sure. I will have to go in and check. I will have to have a look. I can copy and paste codes from other advertisers so it can't be my site. I will have a look for the padlock.

Hi, Suzy. It could also be the case that where you are getting the codes from, they might not have an SSL certificate.

Also, it would not be a bad idea if you check their padlock as well. If yours is not green, then either activate it from your settings, or if it is activated but not showing green, you could have something on your site which is inhibiting it to be that colour.

It might just be a picture you copied on to your site from some place..

Hi James, I couldn't see the padlock. Do I access it from my dashboard?

Would copying a picture from somewhere else stop me from using just one particular advertisers code? Wouldn't it stop me from using any codes?

Hi, Suzy...I've sent you a PM.

Hi Guys, how do I find a logo for my facebook page without infringing copyright laws?

You can try Fivver, or make one yourself using Canva.
You can use pictures from Pixabay.

Hey John, thanks for those tips. I'll try Pixabay first and see how I go. If I can't find anything I'll watch a tutorial for Canva and have a go at that. I have heard of Fiverr as my hairdresser used them recently. :)

Canva is good. They have a variety of formats to choose from, and most of them are free.

Thank James, I'll give it a try. It would be good to make my own - and something else to learn! :)

Hi, Suzy. I hear you about the "something else to learn" part. At times it gets somewhat frustrating as there is so much to learn, which leaves me with less time to write fabulous articles for my site :)

I assume that you are an affiliate, so using the affiliate back office for that affiliate program, I would assume that the good quality links and images are in there.

I would also assume that instructions on how to use their links and images are also in there.

Explore the affiliate back office for the affiliate program in question. Look at their FAQs etc.

If necessary, send an email to their affiliate support team or raise a ticket with their affiliate support team.

Hi David, thank you for your response. I have just contacted the Affiliate Network company, Rakuten Marketing and asked for their assistance. As far as I know I am copying the image correctly but I will check.

Sue

Try to copy the image source link. IE http://www.google.com/images/test.jpg
Inside your post you should be able to add image from url.

Other options which you will need to get their approval to do is to save the image and add it to your media library and insert the image from there.

I highly recommend you do option 1. Option 2 can get you into copyright issues if the proper permissions are not established.

Love you username! :)

Thank you, I will try the first option and see how I go. I do promote a lot of products from this particular company's site, so I might contact them if option 1 doesn't work.
